1954 JUNIOR PROM Our High School Gymnasium w as the scene of the Darien Junior Prom Friday April 23, 1954. Bud Wilbur and his orchestra presented some very lovely, music. Our theme was April Showers . On the stage was a rainbow of many colors for a background for the orchestra. The couples danced under a ceiling of purple umbrellas. The girls who served punch were Louise Long and Janet Zwieg. Jesse Messur-schmidt was the ticket seller. Our chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. Bates, Mr. and Mrs. Gleason and Mr. and Mrs. Verhoef. Queen Barbara Thiele and King Robert Verhoef. JUNIORS Dick McCarthey Danielle Duvall Janet Henschel Hardy Kroeze Ruby Meyer Gordon Putman Pat Rammien Barbara Thiele Emil Wenzel Edwin Wilke Harold Wilkins Patsy Williams Janet Zwieg This year the Junior Class staned out with thirteen members. They had very little money in the treasury so one of the first things they had to do was get projects to raise mooey. The projects include mixers after the basketball games, rummage sales, pancake sapper, Christmas Dance, food sales. Junior Class Play and the Junior Prom. They are also very proud to say that a member of their class. Edwin Wilke, was chosen as Homecoming King, but they regret to say Eddie left them after football season. They also entered a float in the Homecoming Parade, which woo thud prize—the slogan of their float was Eagles Scalp’m Vikings . The Junior Prom was he Id on May 12 at the Ri sera. Our Prom King was Dick McCarthy. They also sponsored a Christmas dance on December 18th. The theme was Winter Wonderland and the orchestra was the Blue Notes from Clinton. 18
