To you, Mrs. Elizabeth Hamilton and Mr. Ray Hamil- ton, we dedicate the D.H.S. DEL-ANO. Devoting many years of your lives to Delano High students. you have gained the respect and admiration of each student with whom you have had contact. Frequent- ly acting as chaperones at social affairs and always happily participating in school projects, you have be- come well-known as gracious good sports. Mrs. Hamilton, your warm personality and perfect disposition have always been inspirations to your de- voted pupils. As head of the English department, you have charmingly given your time and help to faculty members and students. Along with an enviable list of community accomplish- ments, Mr. Hamilton, you have achieved honors as a patient home builder, a fine photographer, and a good friend. You have skillfully handled your job as head of the industrial arts department, along with earning an unsurpassed reputation as a man of integrity and sin- cerity. ln Memoriam Mr. Laurence E. Abbey Flags flying at half-mast on the Delano High campus March 3 carried to the students the message of the death of their veteran teacher, Mr. Laurence E. Abbey. An industrial arts teacher for 52 years fol- lowing four years spent as a school mechanic, Mr. Abbey had served the school longer than anyone else. After founding the transporta- tion and bus maintenance department, Mr. Abbey acted as its supervisor until last year, s a f e ly transporting thousands of students countless miles without a serious accident. Mr. Abbey was widely admired and greatly respected for his many community and school services. His reputation for reliability, consci- entiousness, devotion to duty, and kindness has become legendary in Delano. A veteran of World War I and an active leader in the American Legion, Mr. Abbey exemplified the qualities of loyal patriotism and dedicated citizenship. Delano misses him.
