c., f' , .D ,co Classes Because of the many public appearances of music department groups, these well-trained stu- dents form one of the school's closest ties with the Community. Head of the department, Mr. Chester Hayden, is famous for the fine vocal groups, Girls' Glee, Mixed Glee, and Choir, he presents. Although kept busy with his music apprecia- tion class and the Delano High Orchestra, Mr. jack Ritchey has also found time to initiate an orchestra program in Delano elementary schools. The 100 string players enrolled are expected to augment the small high school orchestra in the future. New to Delano this year, Mr. Gary Ken- yon, director of bands, has introduced a faster cadence than previously used by the band, and at football games, a lighted band. Ceramics, leather and metal working, crafts, and art for both beginning and advanced stu- dents are taught in the art department by Miss Claire Hoster and Mr. Richard Cottrell. Courses in Spanish, Latin, French, and Ger- man are offered in the foreign language depart- ment, headed by Mr. Ed Goldman. Also teach- ing language classes are Mr. Anthony LoRe, Mr. joseph Pokorny, and Mr. joseph Sullivan.
