Dr. Bert C. Corona, Delano High School superintendent, strides purposefully across campus. Commanders As the most important single event of the year, the ad- ministration put before Delano area voters a mammoth 81,750,000 bond issue. Passed by a nearly 3-1 margin, the bond provides for new buildings including music, science, industrial arts, homemaking, math classrooms, a boys' gym, and an administration building, and the improvement and relocation of existing buildings. Working steadily through a vital year of elections, new building plans, and regular school business, Delano High's Board of Trustees, composed of Mr. Meryl Anderson, president, and Mr. D. Andreas, Mr. Lido Sandrini, Mr. Glen Schlitz, and Mr. Norman Simeral, has served the students well. Under the excellent steering of Dr. Bert C. Corona, su- perintendent, everyone at Delano High has been successfully working toward placing DHS among the top-notch schools in California. Mr. joseph Costerella, assistant principal, lends aid to the large commanding job. Mr. Costerella also takes pride in advising the students in charge of planning for all school functions. With the lengthy title of Director of Attendance and Child Welfare, and Athletic Director, Mr. Ray Frederick, whom friendly students address simply as Coach, now marks 26 years of Delano High service. Giving aid to seniors in the selection of careers and di- recting test programs are among the varied duties per- formed by Miss Dorothy Morey, director of guidance and testing. Assisting Miss' Morey with student counseling, Mr. Na- than johnson served as senior class counselor, and Mr. Earl Maxwell helps the junior class members. Mr. Alfred Root is the sophomore class counselor, while Mr. Eugene Beck works with the freshman class. Below, members of the Delano High School Board of Trustees are Mr. J. D. Andreas, Mr. Norman Simeral, Mr. Meryl E. Anderson, Mr. Glen Schlitz, and Mr. Lido.San- drini. These important men met bi-weekly throughout the year.
