V 31,3 i Fil 3 Like pillars supporting the roof, the administrative officers implement and carry out the broad policies of the board of trustees. They are the personnel directly in contact with the board and the boarcl's liason with the faculty and staff. As superintendent, Mr. P. A. Tanksley serves as executive officer of the board. His principal duties involve studying the needs and planning the development of the schools so as to maintain an educational program designed to fully meet the require ments of the community. His admini strative staff includes O. B. Poole, Jr as assistant superintendent, Walter H Block, business manager and A. F McFarlane, director of services.

Trustees link school with community 3 it 3 Y t H The Del Rio Independent School District is the legal responsibility of a seven member board of trustees who represent the citizens of the district. They are elected by the citizens of the district for a two year term of office. This board of trustees holds regular monthly meetings to discharge the business of the school district. These meetings are open to all interested citizens and they are urged to attend. Although the board is entrusted with the legal responsibility of the school they assume a moral respons- ibility to promote and regulate the highest educational standards and facilities for the district. The current board members are shown in the photo above. They include lsittingj Paul Halamicek, Phil Ricks, Dr. Hi Newby, John L. Dodson, Cstandingl Leonel Martinez, Walt Davenport and Gerald Leonard. Officers of the board are Dr. I-Ii Newby, president and Leonel Martinez, secretary.
