Below the wooden castle of desolate rooms lies a man. Upon the beach he lies silently. Slowly he lifts his head. His eyes are redlfrom the salt of the sea, His hair is entwined with seaweed. His face is scarred and beaten. Crawling forward'he collapses, thefwater dripping from his tattered clothes upon the boardwalk on whichfhe lies. Morning arrives. The shipwrecked body of the man lies as before, exhausted but alive. He rises towhis knees and views his surroundings. 'Being a simple man and a poet at heart, he calls out weakly to the seagulls above. An old forgotten village, nameless, faceless, alone. He turns tolthe houses that stand bleakly isolated. 'HG speaks again facing the towering shambles that stand on the rocky cliffs. A The dark windows stare forlornly out to sea. The cold -wind blows, swinging creaking doors back and forth. Dark foreboding clouds roll slowly toward the tumble-down shacks. .A disturbed and angry sea splashes against ageless guardians rof rock, which form a sheltered cove. A He crawls upon the boardwalk, seating himself down in a protective niche, contemplating the water then murmuring this last words. The water washes around its crumbling mmorings, rocking the barnacledlboats gently. Rain falls lightly on sheet metal roofing. A d I n He falls asleep, the sea.whispering across the beach, the foam marking high tide.. Steve Pri ce I-1 .Q V or ,gl A f - 'EI 1, -7 . F l J m s Xjkib , s at 1 n I.
