C ffeye Gfemfe Sept, 17--Registration day. Majority enrolled. Willa Jo Shaffer there be- fore registrars. Merritt Orr finally registered after waiting at the college every day for a week beforehand. Fish needed a map to direct them through the registration routine. Sept, 18--Sophomores finally decided to register. Ho-hum, just another day for them. ' Sept, 19--Classes began, or did they? Practically all freshmen unknowing- ly cut first 2 classes, but came to first class meeting. Walter Dreier advised fish, NHave a heck of a good time while learning.H Observed on campus today: Girls working their wiles on good looking prospective dates for tonights football game. Dean's annual message to fish given today. This year lots of new faces from all parts of Texas and other states seen on campus. ' Sept, 20--Freshman and sophomore meetings. High moguls elected. Sophs chose Earl Shisler president, Everma Joe Hedrick vice-president, Maenell Rouse secretary and treasurer, Jack Powers Student Council Representative, Mr. St. Clair and Miss Klein sponsors. Gordon Best elected freshman president, and Bertrand Arbuckle, Marian Mathis, and Ralph Bowman elected vice-president, secretary and treasurer, and Student Council Representative, respectively. Sept, 22--Ars Vestis sponsored HGet Acquainted Day.H Freshmen tagged with names in green ink. Typical remark: HOh, let me see who you are.H Sgpp, 23--For once in Junior College girls are scarce ------- in glee club. Sept, 24--First meetings of Foghorn and Cruiser. Ann Colby continues as editor of Foghorn. Sept, 25--F. T. A. organized. President: Margaret Herrington. Sponsor: Mr, St. Clair. Sept, 26--Future Clark Gables and Hedy Lamarrs had first Red Mask meeting. SgpL4,21--Home ec. girls organize 1941 ars Vestis. Sept, 28--Fish-soph football game ended in tie. Girls of neither side had to imitate the barefoot boy. Sepp, 30--Girls hustling about getting dates for the backward dance. Marion Hamlin received a new slant on date-getting. QgL4,l--Cruiser launched. Juanita Liggett will be at the helm as editor- in-chief. At night Backward Dance: Flash: Frank Whaley rating 2 escorts Girls technique of tagging: HFollow me upg I don't want to get stuck with this guy.U Qgtppg--Miss May, the pretty blond new speech teacher, has the boys all agog, while the dreams of the girls were shattered when they learned Dr. Farley is a married man, ' QQLL-S--Le Cercle Gaulois organized. James Cass was chosen prsident. Today Dr. Hale asked, Fwhat happens when a man nominated for the vice- presidency dies before the election?H Brilliant Stude, UHe is buried.H Qgt, 4--First issue of Foghorn came out. The freshman edition--it was done in green and white. Qgt, 6--Big aim of Student Council this year is to have more student body entertainments. Spanish Club organized. Q9il.1--Hurrah fOr the hurricane! It gave lots of students a chance to skip, and the others got out at noon. QQLL-Q--Spanish club members ate a Mexican dinner at the Girl Scout Little Houseg then tried to figure out what the Mexican consul was saying- he spoke in Spanish. Afterwards the kitchen was taken over by Junior College girls doing--guess what? QQL..2--Seen between ll and 12, Junior College big shots getting Hshotn by Caller-Times cameramen. The lucky stiffs even got out of classes. QQLl.lQ-'MYSteTY Club had B night meeting. They decided to sponsor a Hallowe'en dance and appointed Catherine Neely to be the chairman of the dance committee. This meeting was followed by dancing and refreshments Dr. Seale objected to so much swing music. Wayne Johnson asked, HHow ' would you like HTen Pretty Girls?n Dr. Seale: HSuits me fine.N Qct,,ll--Mr. St. Clair to his education class: HI guess it's just im- possible to please this bunch. Why, if I brought a five gallon can of chocolate ice cream up here some hot May morning, you'd ask why didn't you get vanilla.H QQLJ-lg--Pictures of many Junior College students who got Ushotn last week made the first page of the society section of the paper. QQii.l3--The lowly fish defeated the mighty sophomores. First tests of the year--that's all. Qgt, 14--Barefoot day for beaten sophs. Two members of the fair sex who disobeyed the order found their shoes on the flagpole, Qgt, 15--Today the Junior College lost a great friend, when its president, Mr. R. B. Fisher passed away, Qgt. 15--A memorial service was held in room ll in honor of Mr. Fisher, Mr. Harvin read the article in the morning paper about our president, then Maxine Hooker gave a short talk in behalf of the student body. After that college was dismissed, His funeral was held at 2:00 P,M, The Ars Vestis initiation, originally scheduled for today was postponed. QQL, 12--Freshman class elected Patty Holder vice-president of the Student Council and Dr. Farley and Miss May as their sponsors. Sophomores dickered all meeting over whether to have a college ring or not. Qgt, 18--Foghorn came out. Mr. M. P, Baker to be our new Junior College president. ' Qgt, 19--J. C. Cooley, Frances Jean Miller, Ruth Johnson, and Roy Rule had their faces pasted in society section of town paper. Reason: They are Mystery Club officers. Qgt, 20--Fish walked away with football series. Qgt, 21--Eula Mae Sanders and Marian Mathis busy collecting money from sophomores for their pictures. Qgt, 22--Dr. Farley has his students puzzled over his eyebrow-raising technique. How does he do it? Qgj, 23--Seen at Ars Vestis skating party from 10 to 12, Ruth Myers, Patty O'Byrne, Dorothy Hall, and Lonnie Glascot monopolozing the floor-- but not by preference. Miss Klein was content to look on. A wonderful time was had by all. Qgt, 24--Freshman started getting their pictures taken for the annual. Qgt, 25--Lots of exs seen strolling about the campus. Annual photo- graphers busy taking pictures. - Qgt, 27--J, C, Cooley and Catherine Neely were worrying over plans for the costume dance Wednesday. Ruth Johnson becoming very adept at picking pockets. CShe's the mystery club secretary and treasurerl. Qgt, 28--La Verne Alley burning the midnight oil to finish stage decorations for the dance. A government student asked Dr. Hale to tell him who made the highest grade on a test. Dr. Hale hesitated, Gordon Kegley said, NOh,
