Evans came to Del City High last year and has already earned the respect and admiration of the students and faculty. His patience and self control have done much to further the academic climate of our school. He has always been available for consultation when we needed help. This fact has made all our jobs easier because we can work with confidence. Therefore, we, the annual staff of Del City High, wish to show our appreciation by dedicating the 1962-63 annual to Mr. A. J. Evans, principal of Del City High School. ADMINISTRATION 2 xIfIf - 4 I III, , 4- I II INV, - ,I Z I IMA- S wg E 5 ,- f I WA - I , I v II WW W 1-rf' i . The first public appearance of the band was the first football game at Yukon. The band performed at all home games, with a pre-game and a half-time show. In addition, the band functioned at pep assemblies, and bonfires, led the Homecoming parade, marched in the Midwest City Twentieth Anniversary parade, the Veterans Day parade in Del City, and played a street concert during the Lions Club Carnival. It was the official musical unit partici- pating in the ground breaking ceremony for the Little River Dam. ln October the band and twirlers rated well in the State Marching contest at Chickasha. Other activities of the band this year include the annual Coronation Concert in January, a school assembly program in February and May, District Contest in March, State Contest in April, Tri-State Music Festival in May, and the Annual Spring Concert in May. Some band members will participate in the All State Band Clinic at OSU in December, and the All State Band at OU in February. From within the band as a whole, there is a stage band, maintained for performance experience in the field of modern jazz music, and a pep band for home basketball performances. We feel he has done an excellent job on the an- nuals he has produced. Mr. Elliott has been a great teacher and friend to all of us. In appreciation, the 1962-63 annual staff would like to dedicate this page to him. The p two girls pictured with him are his daughters, Donlta and Deanna, who are students at the University of Oklahoma. Never shall we forget our day of wearing the traditional cap and gown, for here we end a precious and impor- tant segment of our lives. Through work and study we did make ourselves eligible to wear our caps and gowns. We are realizing too late how much those high school days mean to us. Too soon will come the time when our routine of twelve years will be broken. The wearing of cap and gown sym- bolizes the departure from a sheltered life into the challenging, adult world outside. When our high school days are over, we will stand at one of the many crossroads of life. Before us are many paths. It is here that we separate, and in departing, leave behind us foot- prints in the sands of DCHS.
