Spring Officers Many familiar faces were seen as the Spring Student Body Officers stepped into office. Fall Semester Parliamentarian, Nlichele David, was elected Commissioner of Campus Relations, while JoAnn Castori remained in office as Treasurer. Fall Commissioner of Entertainment, Dave Malakit-, was elected Student Body Vice-President for Spring semester, and Commissioner of Rally, Dave Merritt, may have been recognized as U.C.'s friendly HBulletin announcer. Tom Cole When asked, What is the major goal of Spring Student Council? , Student Body President, Tom Cole, replied, Our major goal is to bring the students and student government closer to the administration. The first step towards this goal occurred when, through an agreement with Mr. Bode, Tom was allowed to sit in on Staff Meetings. Now, Student Body Presidents are regarded as equal staff members, complete with voting privileges, and are better able to represent the student body. Tom moved from Madison, lndiana, just in time to catch the last quarter of school at Del Campo as a junior. He was on the school football team as freshman, sophomore, and junior years, and on the basketball team his freshman and sophomore years. Tom took over the office of Commissioner of Rally when the ore iginal officer, Teresa Patterson, moved, and he planned this year's first three rallies. He also thought up the idea of an R.O.P. program entitled, Operation Night Owl. Under this program, students would police the campus from six p.m. to midnight, in return for credits for four school classes. Another idea of his was to install speed bumps in the D. C. parking lot to reduce the number of accidents caused by wreckless driving. Tom's main devotion has been to Karate. Up to the time of his interview, he has been studying for almost two years, and has been working towards a red belt. Though a student of Del Campo for only a year, Tom Cole has helped to V lessen the communication gap between the students and the administration, and has proven himself a fine leader.
