Some of this schools finest athletes have been trackmen. This year is no exception. Up to the time of this deadline, junior Steve McKenzie has run the 120 high hurdles in 14.6 seconds, the second best time in the area. Senior Bob Koch beat Mira Loma's Jim Theurwachter in the mile in 4:32. This race was a highlight of our dual meet with Mira Loma. Bob is capable of 4:20. ln the high jump, DC sweeps almost every dual meet with the likes of Kent Nuss, Steve Dooner, and Dave Murchison. Doug Maier is the stronghold in the shotput and discus with Mike Obermire not far behind. In the Sprints, newcomer Dave Burford leads the pack followed by Dan Mahoney and Tom I-lankins. Against Mira Loma, long jumper Derald Franklin cleared 20 feet. Hankins can clear 20 feet easily also. Two outstanding sophs are also on the team: 9:30 two miler Bill Mumma and 42 feet triple jumper David Tucker. Coaches Bill Kimball and Roger Riley look forward to another CVC crown.
