Girls Prefoail Del Campo's Tennis Team, for girls, had a season to remember. Their fierce desire to win mingled with friendly sportsmanship gained them a fourth place finish in the CVC. Their record, 4-3, included losses to league leaders Mira Loma and Rio Americano. Coach Eve Thompson cited Denise Merrick, Helen Hunziker, Julie Zimmer, and Jessica Ainsworth as outstanding performers and team leaders as . The rest of the team were also mentioned as responsible for the team's fine season. Front row-Jan Finkbeiner, Janet King, Linda Hedson, Suzanne Hunziker. Back row-Sulvia Gowen, Rhonda Smith, Jessica Ainsworth, Flo Smith, Helen Hunziker, julie Zimmer, Lisa Christensen. The girl's bowling team of 1974 turn- ed out to be one of the finest teams of the year. Outstanding bowlers were Robin Tucker, who led the team with a 165 average, and Evelyn Cummings. Strong Finish The junior varsity soccer team experienced a frustrating start of their league season. They suffered crushing losses to San juan, Casa Robles and Encina in their first three games. Their next game against Mira Loma was the turning point of the season. 'lihey tied and this win enabled them to finish the season 3-3-2. Del Campo's offense was led by forwards David Tucker and Craig Sharton, who scored five and three goals re ectively. Fullbacks Ron Nlorgan and Myles learsfhelped to keep the opponents from scoring. Uther team members were Paul Zimmer, Carl King, and Mark Irwin. ln fact, it was lrwin's goal in the closing minutes of the Mira Loma game that tied the score for good and turned the team's bad luck around. Under his leadership, the inexperienced freshmen and sophomore soccer players learned about soccer and themselves. They enjoyed playing the game and should be back next year. This was evidenced by the team playfully giving a mud hath to Coach Steel at season's end.

Raclced by injuries they still played .500 ball. Outstanding were Cindy Bryson and Linda Rancourt who both will be back next year. 1974 should prove to be an exciting year. Front rowg Gay Lasher, Cindy Quinn, Susan Guttman, Cindy Petril. Back rowg Cindy Bryson, Diane Strahling, Alice Westerinen, Linda Rancourt, Susan Shepherd, Dawn Stretch. Not shown - Coaches Mary Hill and Eve Swope. This was the first year our school has had a girl's Swimming team. We were not disappointed. After smashing El Camino in the season opener, the girl's team went to prestigious Roseville Relays and finished a strong second. Then, to end the season, they swam past Oakmont. Coach Chris Reese praised freestyler Margaret Figeroid, and back-stroker Chris Lasell as outstanding. Also mentioned were Liz Martin, Cathy Bispo, and Barb Striekler.
