Tournament of Champions A berth in the Tournament of Elk Grove Herd ffirst rated in all Champions was the Cougars'. They won Northern Californial romped to a 67-45 the C.V.C. race by three games. With win. Poor officiating and poor Cougar only two losses in league play, the shooting in the second half precipitated Cougars travelled to the T.O.C. rated the loss. The Cougars trailed by only fifth in the section and second in four points at the half time. Nearly 4,000 Superior California. The first night of screaming fans watched Bruce Wirt out play found the cagers pitted against jump seven foot Bill Cartwright, but to Jesuit. Jesuit was vanquished, 60-59, no avail. Elk Grove went on to win the thanks to some clutch free throw game and the next night, the shooting by Mark Walil' Meidinger and championship. D.C. lost to Franklin of Paul Tucker. The next night the mighty Stockton by 10 points. They were spent physically and mentally from the night before. The second team came in and did much better than the first string, and brought the score back into sight. A salute should be given to Tom l-lankins, Paul Medved, Matt Stephens, Rich Shipp, Bob Beebout and Derald Franklin, for time given. Without their dedication, the Cougars would have been out of the race. Woody McClure should be thanked for the excellent job he did as manager of the team.
