Paul Peterson, the freshman counselor, was involved with orienting the ninth grade students. He is also the head counselor and works in the spring with Will Rogers to prepare the eighth graders for high school. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and reading, and is reputed to have a fine singing voice: top left. Posed in the cockpit of a Cessna 150 before take-off, is social science teacher, Russ Abbott. He took weekly flying lessons at Phoenix Field. He also was advisor to the National Honor Society: middle left. Robert Currie commuted from his farm home in Lincoln to teach beginning through advanced French. He taught his students by way of dialogue, the language lab, and question-answer periods as indicated by Cindy Pettit, below. Jim McConnell, the advisor of Cougar's Corners, Del Campo's first student-run store, appeared to enjoy some of its benefits as he stuffed a handful of popcorn in his mouth: bottom left.

Bottoms Up! Participating in the first spirit rally of the year, in a revised chugging contest, Were, bottom left: principal William Bode, and Assistant Principals, Warner Seargeant and James Jorgensen. They were the center of attraction at the rally as three juice-filled baby bottles were distributed among them, and they guzzled. Mr. Bode received the first prize plastic rattle after he displayed his dry bottle. Eerie effects applied by a pen flashlight, as displayed in the photograph, right, are but a small example of Barry Steel, the photography teacher's ability. His diversified interests ranged from biking on his 350 Honda, skiing at Sugar Bowl. Although unmarried, he was in the process of completing a master's degree in marriage counseling. Although he had the big job of heading up the Pep, Jazz, and Marching Bands, Larry Gilliland still had time to supervise the gifted students on electronic musical instruments. He and his Wife were champions in competition Ballroom dancing, and demonstrated their talent at the Adult Dance, which is put on by the Jazz Ensemble every year: far right. 1- 'Xl Z Fi - if P Z f f' 13' .' f . fl V aa., if

Vaudefuille Vera Loehr sang a song to the tune of Frank Penko and Bruce Haller's piano duet Cleft and rightl as Dennis von Brauchitsch ffar leftl and Ted Filpula held the piano up, middle bottom. Clear days lured Frank Penko to the old mining camps and towns of the Mother Lode. Vera Loehr enjoyed lakes and rivers by means of her canoe and outboard ski boat.. Tahiti, New Zealand, Fiji, and Australia are some of the most distinctive places she hasvisited. Ted Filpula was a back- packing man and he claimed himself to be quite spocially oriented. Dennis von Hrauchitsch was an active Del Norte Club member. Bruce Haller, a chess-player, thought it was delightful to converse with people and read books. German teacher Irene Abbott pointed out her favorite country in Europe, top left She said, Traveling is the easiest way of becoming educated to the world. She has been to the majority of European countries and said the most unusual place was Venice because it had a Disneyland affect. As for the most colorful country, nothing was more outstaniding than the vendors and street bazaars of the Orient, where she was raised. Math teacher Duane Peterson marked the action at a Del Campo basketball game while he recorded the j.V. and Varsity statistics, middle top. He taught Driver's Training and liked to camp with his family when he could. Barbara Potter joined the English De- partment at second semester, bottom left. She loved to camp in secluded areas, ride trail bikes and water ski. Don Rowley taught Health and Safety, U.S. History and Student Government, middle top. He was working on his masters for school administration in order to work with students at a different level. He was born in Canada where he got in some skiing and he liked to ride bicycles with his family on short excursions. Student Kelly Alexander helped Debbie Moon and Judith Tingley ffar left and far rightl teach Adele McFadden a few hand- signs, top right. Debbie Moon was new at Del Campo this past year and became a bride during the second semester. Last summer she ventured to the East coast to visit schools for the deaf. She spent her free time at conferences in the Bay Area in order to pick up new ideas to teach her own deaf students. Judith Tingley taught Special Education too. She was another camping devotee among the Del Campo Faculty and found her V.W. bus quite convenient for week-end trips. She delight- ed in cooking new dishes and taking time to raise her teen-age daughter.
