BOLTON As assistant superintendent in charge of curriculum and instructions, Dr. Frank Bolton supervised the purchasing of books and materials. He also co-ordinated all grade schools, assisted in interviewing all new personnel, attended grade level and high school meetings, and special services and testing committee meetings. MR. BOWERS Mr. Robert Bowers, a very familiar fig- ure in school, was kept well occupied this year as he again took the responsibility of being the boys' counselor. Other im- portant duties that he carried out were those of being the administrative assistant to the principal and being in charge of ticket sales and receipts for school func- tions. MRS. ANDERSON As girls' counselor, Mrs. Berniece An- derson aided many students in planning their programs of study and acted as an adviser in adiustment problems which girls might have had. She also was in charge of college night, career clinics, testing, and the planning of social events. They also parked cars during football games and did minor repair jobs. DAYTON MR. FLAVIN The class of T962 made a fine record for DeKalb High School in football this year with a six won, one lost: one tie record. The Barblets lost the season opener to West Aurora, but six out of seven of the remaining games ended up with DeKalb the victor. After being narrowly defeated in an over- time game with Galesburg, the 1960 Barbs emerged with a respectable 21-7 record for the entire season, one of the finest ever made in the school. We can well be proud of our basketball team. On April 30, 1960, following months of prep- arations, the Class of 1961 presented their Junior- Senior Prom, lsland Beyond the Sun. The South Seas theme was carried out by the decorations, which included an archway symbolizing the Sun, a waterfall, and seascapes on the walls. The mem- bers of the sophomore class who helped in re- ceiving guests, distributing programs, and serving punch were dressed as Hawaiian girls and beach- combers, lending a touch of atmosphere to the occasion. Ripples of laughter were heard throughout the auditorium during the play, and enthusiastic applause followed the final curtain.
