adicmcls As the national honor society of high school journalists, Quill and Scroll is organized to en- courage, promote, and reward journalistic achievement. Before admittance is granted, the student must meet the fol- lowing requirements: he must have 100 inches of published copy or, equivalent work on a school publication, he must be recommended by the faculty ad- visor and approved by interna- tional headquarters. Mrs. Rutledge is the faculty advisor for the local chapter. chem! 300302 acdely In 1922 the National Honor Society was organized to recog- nize outstanding juniors and Seniors in high schools through- out the United States. In 1925, just three years after its begin- ning, D e K al b organized its branch. To become eligible for mem- bership a student must be in the upper one-third of his class. All who meet this scholastic require- ment are then rated by their classmates on leadershipg charac- ter, and service to the school. Finally, the faculty vote on those students who have re- ceived their classmates' recom- mendation. Only 59? of the Juniors and lifc of the Seniors can be elected in any one year. First row: C.
