DEFIANCE 46-FINDLAY 57 A bad second quarter spelled defeat for the Bulldogs as Findlay's Troians spilled them for the second loss, The 'Dogs led at the end of the first quarter, but tell behind by eleven points in the second quarter. Fauster led Defiance with 13 markers, followed by Hudson who had 12. DEFIANCE 74-NAPOLEON 55 A red-hat first quarter, in which DHS built up a 24-point margin, spelled victory for the 'Dogs in their NWOL game with Napoleon. Defiance hit nearly seventy per cent ol their field goal attempts in that first period and then hung on to their lead. Willey paced the Bulldogs with 24 points. DEFIANCE 75-LIBERTY CENTER 57 After a slow start in the first quarter, the DHS squad finally got up enough steam to pull away from Liberty's Tigers to win their fourth league game. As usual, Larry Willey led the 'Dogs to victory with 25 points on 11 field goals and 3 free- throws. Cameron followed with 12 markers. DEFIANCE 61 -MONTPELIER 62 Trailing by os much as ten points midway in the first half, DHS retaliated in the second half to tie the score, but they couldn't hold their lead and Montpelier eelred out o 62 to 61 decision. Willey hooped 20 points, Fauster and Cashman hit 14 each in an exciting game that wasnt decided until the last 45 seconds. DEFIANCE 77fWAUSEON 30 DHS got back on the winning trail by smashing a weak Wauseon ball club. The 'Dogs soared to a 24 to 2 first quarter lead, and lxept on scaring until the final buzzer to win their filth league game in seven starts. DEFIANCE 72-TOLEDO SCOTT 64 Scott's fast-break offense gave DHS a tough time in the lirst half, but the 'Dogs came back strongly to win by eight points. Willey poured 28 points through the hoops to lead the Bulldogs once again. Powell, Cameron, and Harris each gave Willey doublevfigure support. The game was close at the begin- ning, but a 24-point burst in the third quarter put the game out of Montpelier's reach. Larry Willey, the 6' 6 iunior forward, led the 'Dogs with 25 points. DEFIANCE 56-VAN WERT 49 Trailing by as much as eleven paints midway in the first half, the Bulldogs rallied to dump Van Wert's Cougars 56-49. Willey haoped 26 markers for DHS as the 'Dogs won their second game of the year. ... ain't it amazing what that guy can do? . . . Larry Willey scores again . . . BASKETBALL . . . . . don't fence me in! . . . Tom Cashman, . Bulldog center . . . DEFIANCE 66-WAUSEON AI With Willey and Cashman leading the way with 20 and I9 points, respectively, Defiance rolled to its second League win, this time over Wauseon, A zone defense set up by Wauseon stymied the 'Dogs in the first half as they led by only B points, but again they cut loose in the second half to win by 25 points. DEFIANCE 57-BRYAN 60 A red hot Bryan team dumped the Bulldogs for the first time in four games as the Bears won 60-57 in a real thriller. Larry Willey again paced Defiance with twenty paints, but Bryan matched the Bulldogs, basket for basket, and won the game with free-throws in the last seconds.

DEFIANCE 83-BRYAN 54 With six Bulldogs scoring over ten points each, DHS avenged an earlier defeat at the hands of Bryan's Bears by 29 points. Willey led the scoring parade with 17 points. Cameron hit 15, Fauster and Harris, 13 each, and Cashman, 12. DEFIANCE 77-NAPOLEON 74 Using o full-court press defense, the Wildcats almost upset DHS on the Bulldogs' court. Defense suffered ci big let-down ofler trouncing Bryan the previous week-end and we were lucky to gain the victory. Willey again paced the 'Dogs, this time to tie the League scoring record of 201 points. DEFIANCE 86-LIBERTY CENTER 64 With Willey's breaking the NWOL individual scoring record by 31 points, the 'Dogs ripped Liberty for their eighth victory in ten league games. They also broke the one-season scoring record of 682 by amassing 71B in ten games for an average of 71,8 points per game. Willey also broke John Snyder's one- season field goal record by totaling 91 fielders to Snyder's 81. DEFIANCE SIWMAUMEE 52 Rolling over Maumee, the 'Dogs won their thirteenth game in sixteen starts. Willey hooped 28 and Fauster, 19, for the home team. Cameron and Cashman also had double figure efforts, each scoring 10. DEFIANCE 72-CELINA 38 The Bulldogs closed their regular season cage schedule with an easy victory over Celina, A good defense combined with a red'hot offense paved the way for the 'Dogs. . . . 5' 7 sharpshooter . . . Jack Fcuster . . . . . . will he make it? . . . Ronnie Powell.. . DEFIANCE 70-WAUSEON 41 The rampaging Bulldogs began the defense of the 1954 sectional tournament championship by defeating Wauseon's Indians for the third time this year. Willey's 32 points gave him game honors. DEFIANCE 67-VAN WERT 45 Led by larry Willey's 17 points and PoweII's 14, DHS advanced to the finals by bumping the Cougars from the tourney. Willey collected four field goals and nine free throws, and Powell fired seven fielders. DEFIANCE 62-BRYAN 35 DHS maintained its supremacy in the NWOL Sectional by thumping Bryon for their tenth straight victory. The 'Dogs' fine defense, which held the Bears to eleven field goals, was instru' mental in the victory. DEFIANCE 42-SANDUSKY 55 After ten consecutive wins, Defiance fell victim to a rugged Sandusky quintet in the District Tourney. A bad third quarter spelled the end of the season for the Bulldogs. Fauster led the scoring with twelve points. Willey's 10 markers gave him a total of 468 for the season.
