Bob and his assistant coach Fred Butler, are very proud of the team members: Carolyn Hendricks, Emma Maag, Bonell Marihugh, Mary McClure, Joe Ann Wiseman, Mary Detray, Sue Ellsworth, and Bill Haase. John also saw the new Ritzie Nightclub, built by the Phil Baker Construction Company and owned by Alice Briggs. He was lucky to be there that night, because the Orville Smith and his Smithoniansn orchestra was making its first appearance there with Darlene Hire as soloist and John Weible, head noisemaker. So much for.Paris. His next stop was England and then New York where he dined with Mayor Charles Minck and Governor Fred Marckel. Among the other distinguished guests present at this banquet were: Nora Lee Bayliss, Dave Marihugh, Annabelle Grimes, Cleon Hohenberger, and Peg Bolley. After the banquet, which consisted of a special concoction dreamed up by Mary Jeanne Kern and Gale King, he proceeded to fly back to England where he enrolled in the Barb Schroeder School of Cooking. It so happened that Betty Steel, Edgar Hesselschwardt, Wayne Crosser, Janet Lantow, and Louis Sabo, had the same idea. They, too, had come froma banquet, this one being in honor of Sue Seyboldt who was elected Cook of the Year. A close runner-up was Dick Diemer, with his unusual, recipe for Tressed which is dessert, spelled backwards. Third prize went to Albert Frank and Lavon Florence for their uniquely assembled cake, and fourth prize to Clarabelle Hardesty for her cheese soufle. Other contestants were Janet Parker, Betty Mast, Kenneth Eitniear, and Pearl Hardy, who were unable to attend the judging after testing their own concoctions before entering them. The manager of this fine club, Bob Wiseman, credits this to the fact that they have only played one game so far this season. I tried to get their autographs but just as l was ready to get them, the motorcycle cops, headed by John Stock, had to come along and push us all back to the sidewalk. It was about like being in the middle of a big jigsaw' puzzle. Well, there's one way of doing it. Excuse me, pardon me, whoops, l'm sorry, pardon, pardon me. Well, Imade it, minus a few pounds.
