Well, no wonder. Here is a float by the Tom Ryan Modeling School and look who's on it. The models! There's Carol McFarland, Miss America of 19605 Jennie Pohlmann, world renowned singing and dancing starg Pat Qverly, a model for the Nancy Nischwitz Dress Shop which is located across from the Fur Shop, owned by Theresa Minckg Georgia Lindeman, Queen of the Housewives, and many, many more. The next float is the Ohio State Football Team, coached by Jerry Behringer. This team, consisting of Jim Bonfiglio, Otto Beindorf, George Bussing, Dick Harris, Harold Fry, Keith Hubbard, Jack Weisenberger, Gene Mattocks, John Mohr, Pat Weber, and Ronald Brown, has never lost a game this season. The manager of this fine club, Bob Wiseman, credits this to the fact that they have only played one game so far this season. I tried to get their autographs but just as l was ready to get them, the motorcycle cops, headed by John Stock, had to come along and push us all back to the sidewalk. It was about like being in the middle of a big jigsaw' puzzle. And speaking of jigsaw puzzles, The Jigsaw Picture Puzzlers lnc., are doing a very prosperous business under the new leadership of Eleanor Fisher. Her puzzlers are: Pat Heilshorn, Chief draw-um, Lois Krutsch, Chief color-um, Jim Hall, Chief cut-up, August Schackow, Chief put-um-togetherg Jim Zehner, Chief-take-um-apart, Allan Schutt, Chief justice-of-the-piecesg LarryRuch, Chief-put-um-in- boxg Theresa Leonard, Chief-tape-um-box, Phil Shoup, Chief sell-um, and Mary Fronk, Chief do-um-what-others-forget. These puzzles are guaranteed to fit in any home. The cheers and yells are so loud I can hardly think. If lcould only squeeze through to the front row maybe I could see what's going on. Well, there's one way of doing it. Excuse me, pardon me, whoops, l'm sorry, pardon, pardon me. Well, Imade it, minus a few pounds. Why, it's our hometown hero John Ryan, who has just completed a round-the- world flying trip in his own homemade airplane. years to accomplish this marvelous feat. I'0l9 QC? Q o Q I was just walking downthe street, thinking of my dental appointment with Dr. Gerald Koerber, O.W.P. fopen wide pleasej when suddenly, coming around the corner in a new Dee Brown Roadster was none other than Bebe run quick or get hit Arend. After much coaxing on her part and a lot of courage on mine, I finally did proceed to get in and ride around town with her. Well, we no sooner got started when a cop, namely Bill Thieroff, stopped us. I'm sorry, he said in his deep masculine voice, you'll have to stop. There's a parade coming down the street. So we stopped and got out to watch. While waiting for the parade we could see across the street from us the studio of Rita Hewitt, vocal instructor. Some of her ardent pupils are Betty Bauer, Joanne Gessner, Anna Bond, Bev Fitzenrider, and Mary Lero. And, oh look, there's Huberta Iohnsonbaugh and her husband, Dick Smith, with little Dickie, Jr. Isn't he cute? Over there's Mary Maney, the ballet instructor for the .To Doerfner Dancing School. Iwas talking to Mary the other day and she says her most promising pupil is Dick Squire. Dick always was light on his feet. Well, here comes the band! Ah such sweet music as these Lee Ann Wilhelm Bassoon Blowers put forth! Ruth Harmon, Teney Schac'kow, Luetta Brandt, Nan Fauth, and Dorothy Trubey are all members ofthis swell band. Why, lookie there. There's Bernie Boff on the big bass drum. Gee, he looks funny up there! The music seems to be getting louder. Oh, I see why now. Here comes Bonnie Miller. Bonnie has just won a prize for being able to play the drum so loudly. Her prize--one day in jail for disturbing the peace--the peace in this case being Police Commissioner Charlie Barber who was awakened from his snooze by the noise. Bonnie seems to have enjoyed her stay there because she was able to catch up on some of her reading. Her latest collections are: How to Eat and Still Stay Slim by Sally Skees. Some of Miss Skees' efficient staff members are Marilyn Compo, Anna Daft, Marlene Goldenetz, Marilyn Bowers, and Barb Spangler. Another interesting book is Learn to Drive in Ten Easy Lessons by the Great Gerry Reid. Ruth Snyder has become known to the reading world through her book Things to do While in the Hospital. This is a follow-up of Gerry's book. Now to get back to the parade. I wish that gpg: X lady would remove her hat. I can't see around in it much less over it. She's turning her head. Now i ,. maybe I can get her attention. Well, look who it 4, 3 if X N l Z7

Some more winners in the Olympics that year include: Bill Neff, track, Pat Marckel, swimmingg Doug Sproul, skiing, Jo Lewis, boxing, Raul Stock, wrestlingg and Finley Vaughan, poker. John also saw the new Ritzie Nightclub, built by the Phil Baker Construction Company and owned by Alice Briggs. He was lucky to be there that night, because the Orville Smith and his Smithoniansn orchestra was making its first appearance there with Darlene Hire as soloist and John Weible, head noisemaker. So much for.Paris. His next stop was England and then New York where he dined with Mayor Charles Minck and Governor Fred Marckel. Among the other distinguished guests present at this banquet were: Nora Lee Bayliss, Dave Marihugh, Annabelle Grimes, Cleon Hohenberger, and Peg Bolley. After the banquet, which consisted of a special concoction dreamed up by Mary Jeanne Kern and Gale King, he proceeded to fly back to England where he enrolled in the Barb Schroeder School of Cooking. It so happened that Betty Steel, Edgar Hesselschwardt, Wayne Crosser, Janet Lantow, and Louis Sabo, had the same idea. They, too, had come froma banquet, this one being in honor of Sue Seyboldt who was elected Cook of the Year. A close runner-up was Dick Diemer, with his unusual, recipe for Tressed which is dessert, spelled backwards. Third prize went to Albert Frank and Lavon Florence for their uniquely assembled cake, and fourth prize to Clarabelle Hardesty for her cheese soufle. Other contestants were Janet Parker, Betty Mast, Kenneth Eitniear, and Pearl Hardy, who were unable to attend the judging after testing their own concoctions before entering them. Oh, golly, while I was telling you all this I forgot to watch the parade! Can you imagine me, Lois Schira, forgetting to watch a parade and talking to you?
