Then came the b sletball season The girls took upon themselves to serve hot dogs, pop candy and gum at the basketball games The boys helped the baske ball team to brlng home many victorie and several trophles Then came the tlre for the annual tradltlonal Junior senlor ban quet After several class d1SCuSS1OHS Je came to the concluslon that our tleme would be HThe Gold Rush of 49 Th1s meant a lot of hard work but we engoyed dolng it Kelth Jones was our toastmaster Donald Berry sang a vocal solo and Helen Hales and Eyvonne Krause played an lnstrumental duet Our climax act1v1ty of the year was puttlng on the customary three act play, Love lS too Much Trouble U It was a great success because of the capable dlrectlng of Nlss Norma E Ryman Th1s pushed up our bank roll Our last sesslon in DHS began with eleven Hstlll nOlSyn senlors Je lost from our class Naxine Corbett and Angel Hernandez but galned Kathryn f1ll1GmS who came to us from Creighton, Nebraska, and Izolde Roze rho came o us from the country of Latvia Kelth Jones was elected president, v1ce president, Helen Hales, secretary, Ardls Potts, treasurer, Lyle Haddux To start off our flnal year we gave a three act play entltled 'The Perfect Idlot ' I guess it fit our class qulte well It was presented on December 8, 1949 to a large audlence On February 10 l95O, e experlenced one of the most pleasurable events that Deerfleld High has partlclpated in Je moved into the new high school building It took us half a day mOV1DQ books and equlp ment Je dld this by the use of trucks, car , and walklng from one Ie chose for our class motto UIt may be all Tl ht to be content wlth what you have, never with what you are Our clas colors are red and whlte and our flower 1S red and whlte roses order that the clas of nlneteen flfty be remembered, we began working on an annual Je spent cons1derable time worklng on it to male lt better than ever before Ol as the year closes we are lOOk1Dg for what I9 have been hop 1ng for ince ze entered hlgh school le rlsh to e press our gratl tude to the school board and the comnunlty :ho have helped m ke our senlor trlr po sible As our senlor year ends, we look back on many fond memories e have had together 'e reallze that we 11ll drlft apart, probably never all ettlng together agaln, so whlle on our race are smlles, there 1 a t1HO9 of sadness in our hearts as IG part T . a 1 . 1 C t ' 5 - O o . .
