V. , , We had our many class parties as usual, and Miss Barbara Clark accompanied us on several of them. The one we remember best is our last day of school picnic on which we went to Scott City in the back of a truck. The weather was rather breezy, and on the way home it started to rain and a few Hpansiesn rode home in the school bus, but those who stayed in the truck can well assure you of what a nice ride one can have in the rain. Ah! Now came our junior year. We decided we had better quit loafing and put all our ability to making money towards a senior trip. Our first activity was to sponsor a box supper, which was quite a suc- cess. The evening's entertainment was opened by a one act play, HPaul Splits the Atomu. Virginia Krause and Dick Eskelund, nominees of the Junior class, were elected king and queen for the evening Frosty Claypool did a fine job as auctioneer We were not content with just a box supper, so we gave a three act play, A Credit to the Familyu It was a success because of the very capable directing of Miss Norma E Ryman Still with money on our minds the girls sold pop, hot dogs candy and gum at the basket ball games We did not have the help of the boys because they were participating in the games The members of the Junior class did not change much from the sophomore year other than we gained Dick Eskelund and lost Barbara Up hoff and Norman Sowards Our class officers were Otis Molz, president, vice president, Virginia Krause, secretary, Barbara Brunker, treasurer, Martha Swords Our sponsor was Miss Pearl Conway We started planning for the Junior and senior banquet as our Junior year came to a close The theme of the banquet was HA Meyican Fiestan We decorated the study hall to look like a cafe south of the border It was a lot of hard work but we really had fun doing it The toastmistress was Barbara Brunker The welcoming speech was given by Otis Molz Solos were sung by Martha Swords and Joyce Coleman Michael Downing, Phil Van Doren, and Otis Molz sang several numbers Thus, our junior year came to an end The membership of our class in our senior year was increased by Betty Elliott and Norman Sowards to make a total of thirteen Otis Molz was elected president to serve his fourth term, Dick Eskelund was elected vice president, Barbara Brunker secretary, Martha Swords treasurer To carry on the tradition of giving a senior play we chose the play, Gabriel, Blow Your Horn This was presented December 3, l948, to a capacity crowd and was considered a great success by all e chose for our class motto, NDon't itch for success but scratch for it H Our class colors are green and gold, and our flower is violets working on an annual To make it larger and better than ever before we have put in a great amount of time Butnt asn't all work, as you can well imagine, we all had fun Going it Now at the end of the year we are eagerly looking forward to our senior trip Ve wish to express our gratitude to the school board nd the community who h ve helped aye this trip pos ible for us We leave the halls of DHS with a sense of com lete satisfaction deep joy for having corpletec four work filled years but eager to look forward to new horizons to conquer ll . . . , x ' . - . . , a ' , W In order to give recognition to the students of DHS we began .
