-wil'll1efS- DHS Traditions Upheld WarriorfesT was a huge success This year. Carrying on The annual Tradifion, all Three levels of The foofball Team came ouT ahead of The Waukegan EasT Bulldogs. The VarsiTy Warriors con- cluded The afTernoon wiTh a 35 To 20 vicTory over The Bulldogs. AfTer The game, sTudenTs hurried home To geT ready for The Homecom- ing dance, A STep Through Time. The dance was held in The sTudenT cafeTeria and The music was provided by The group SofT Touch. The band played boTh slow and fasT music, which gave The more creaTive danc- ers a chance To show off Their skills. Following The dance, many couples paTronized local resTauranTs or jusT wenT To The houses of friends. AnoTher lmporTanT elemenT of Homecoming weekend was The Homecoming courT. Homecoming aT- TendanTs were as follows: freshman - Alyssa WinTer and Larry Finer, sopho- more - STacy Flanders and Jamie BeccheTTi, junior - Karen Kamberg and Andy Solem, and senior - Jennie Lipowich and Dave HeTzel. This year's king and queen were Mark McAuliffe and Sara Cook. One Type of sTudenT races home or To The library To hiT The books, buT These T f T' sTudenTs are definiTeIy in The minoriTy. Many ofher sTudenTs are involved in exTracurricular acTiviTies, while oThers go home To collapse unTil The nexT school day. Finally, There are The sTudenTs who geT home from school -4 jusT in Time To go To work. There are many places where Deerfield sTudenTs can be seen working. In NorThbrook CourT, for example, DHS sTudenTs work in The courTyard resTauranTs, aT The Gap, and in Kaybee Toys. ln The Deerfield Commons, The cheerful faces of Deerfield sTudenTs can be seen in Holly's Hallmark, Walgreen's and Jewel. lvlosT people hold jobs To earn some exTra spending money or save for college. Some jobs also provide experience for fuTure careers. A final greaT benefiT of Taking a parT Time job is making a loT of new friends. One working junior said, Working has enabled me To save up for a new car. Even more imporTanTly, however, iT has given me a chance To meeT many exciTing people. sf' E .
