SENIOR PL Y HEAD FIRST Mix up a magician with a house full of strangers, and anything can happen--and did! For when Larry's occult-wise friend, Phil, with thebest of intentions, plans to put the recalcitrant new butler into a hypnotic tranceand inducehim to be a good butler, the Carrs should have been mightily pleased, but weren't. For Phil, by mistake, mesmerizes Mr. Dowd, the wealthy house guest qwho might be induced to merge his business with Mr. Carr's,J and has him going around beleiving he'd like to serve dinner, and rejoices in answering doorbells. 'I'he Dowds' sophisticated daughter, Mary Lou, thinks her dad is terribly ftmny in his new role, and induces Phil to convert her mother into a would-be cook: It would fit in so well with butler father . . . So Phil promptly does. There ensue some riotous scenes, with Mrs, Dowd getting underfoot in the kitchen, and Mr. Dowd, frying pan in hand, chasing Barlow through the living room. Meanwhile, J' ody's friend, Marilyn, dateless for the dance, is magically persuaded by Phil not to want to go to the dance. He's just trying to help out J' ody, who is frantically telephoning prospective escorts, Of course, when the blind date arrives and Marilyn calls him a jerk and refuses to go, you can imagine the consequences. Furious with Phil, the distraught Carrs hire a professional hypnotist, Lori, to undo the mischief, But she, too, confuses identities, and has Barlow the real butler, thinking he's a rich industrialist, and the real cook believing she's an aristocrat who winters in Honolulu. All of which leaves the Dowds still in their domestic roles, and the business merger no nearer completion. This unhappy situation is relieved only when Phil, certain this time who is which, in an unequalled mass hypnotic scene to end all scenes, turns the characters right side out again!
