BAND HISTORY The Deer Creek-Mackinaw Band has twenty-eight members under the direction of Mr. Robert Hutton fTiger to some.J This band is very versatile for it is Deemack's only marching band concert band, and pep band. As the Deemack Marching Band it performed at four of our football games, one of whichrin- cluded the homecoming parade. It stepped quickly to lead the Halloween parade on the night of October 27. At the I.S.N,U, homecoming parade the members practically ran to fill in an open place left by the preceding band just before the judges box. They filled the hole and were rated fairly high by the judges. At the Deemack pep band, they played at three pep assemblies and ten home games. They also played at Morton during the tournaments. The third accomplishment was the concert band. The first performance of the year was at the Deer Creek P.T.A. Meeting on September 10. Tehn came the Band Booster's Concert on November 12, the Mackinaw P.T,A, Meetingon December 3, the Pancake Supper, the Ham and Bean Supper, and the Tazewell County Festival held on February 13 at Morton. The band also played at other schools in March and April according to an exchange trade. All together the three Deemack bands performed at approximately 25 different times. Aside from this many members played in quartets, duets, trios, and solos. They did a little directing, too, so I think it can be concluded that the band members and director have kept quite active in this year 1956-57.
