Charles Osman Jane Urish Linda Anderson Byron Stewart Mrs. Robbins Mrs. Ford HISTORY OF LILLY SCHCDL Application was made in 1921 for Lilly School to become a standard School, and in 1922 a Standard School certificate was granted. On Friday evening, January 20, 1934, a large group of people assembled for the dedication of Lilly School as a Superior School. This was the second school in Tazewell County to be re- cognized as Superior, the other one being located between Pekin and East Peoria. At 8:30 on the morning of April 12, 1940, the Lilly School was burned to the ground. No one was injured, fortunately, although all children were in the school when the fire was discovered. Plans were immediately drawn up for a new school building. At the beginning of the 1940- 1941 school term, school was- held at Mt. Pleasant school. The teacher, Mrs. Marie Bostic and her pupils were able to convene school- in the new building on December 2, 1940. On July 20, 1948, a special meeting was called for the purpose of disolving the 'old school board, consisting of Carl Kull, Earl McLaughlin, and Earl Parmele. At this time Lilly School, District No. 269, became a part of the new Deer Creek-Mackinaw Unit, District 'No. 701. The present building, with all modern facilities, consists of a classroom, library, and dining room. Ole teacher and a janitor are employed. At the beginning of the 1951-1952 school term. the seventh and eighth grades were taken in the grade school at Mackinaw. The enrollment in the Lilly School this year is 27.
