CLASS PROPHECY Dear I have Just made my annual trlp around Ih1S part of the Umted States and here I am home tn txme for Chrtstmas I had the pleasure of seemg many of my frxends and a lot of yours Whlle 1n New York I went out on a Slght seemg tour of the c1ty I was on the bus and I saw a large blllboard that read You can get anythmg at the Mary Don The owners of th1s store I found out were Mary Thompson and Donna Stewart We were go1ng so peacefully down the avenue when we heard the stren of an ambulance I looked out and there went Tom V1emont flylng by and grlnrung from ear to ear He flew across the tra1n tracks and Just beat a tra1n I guess that he has learned to beat them all now The bus pulled up to a stop sol thought I would get off I bought a newspaper and was taken by sur prtse at the headhnes MODEL TO SUE HUSBAND In the flne prlnt I saw thatShtr1ey Wemdel Bennett was stung Dan because he wouldn t work Hrs reason was Who w1ll take care of all our boys '7 I put the paper under my arm and set out walklng. I came to a place all ht up wlnch sa1d D 85 E Rob1son s Dance Studro Learn to dance tn one easy hour I went tn and sure enough If belonged to my old classmates I got to talk to Elsle but Carol was busy w1th a student I was Just leavlng there when of all thlngs whom should I meet but John Appenzeller He stopped to talk and then sa1d he must hurry as he had a date I wonder why he was all dressed up Down a couple blocks from there Isaw Rush s Rush House I stopped 1n and sure enough there was another frtend J ack Rush There were quxte a few kxds 1n there and I asked If lt were a teenage hangout He sa1d Yes but most of them were h1s Hts Wlfe wasn t around so I can t tell you about her Just then my bus came back andl mon my way to Chlcago Just as we were leavmg I saw Crossman s Can Shop I know rt s the Crossman I know as h1s car was out In front and th1s was a Studebaker garage I started looklng through my paper more carefully to catch the thlngs that I had n'ussed the last t1me I came across the marrxage hcense and there were three couples that I knew out of twenty They were Lora Jo Shonk to Eddte Woodxng That I remember as a old school day romance but I guess 1ts the real thtng Then down a httle farther was Sharon Snyder to Wxllard B1rkner and Sh1rley DeBolt to Allen Bnggs I re member he gave her the r1ng a long t1me ago I thought they were marrled but I guess that goes to show that you lose track of some thmgs On the same page was a large p1cture of Naomt Lamprecht tn a whlte cap and gown She had become On down the same page was the hospxtal notes whrch sa1d that there were twm boys born to Mr and Mrs Ron Newlxn The Mrs was the former Ltnda Mooberry By th1s ume I was tn Ch1cago Here I plcked up a car I wanted to buy one and finally went 1nto a Chevle garage To my surprlse I found ll belonged to Lou Wurmnest the all star of the basketball team of 56 It was stlll early 1n the afternoon so I took a httle dr1ve I drove down to a new sectlon of town and there I found Dan Thames All the homes but one were bu1lt by the Thames Bros I forgot to ask h1m 1f he ever got marrled Dan told me that m the house next to where we were were two of my old classmates I went over to see whom he meant and there I found Jean Anne Tolley and Betty Ann Moser They sa1d that they would never get marrled but they both were wearmg a large chunk of glass on thelr left hand I got back tn my car and drove off after talkmg to them for a whtle I came to a Motel called Severns Seven Sure enough there were seven motels owned by Errol Severns I was gazrng around and whenl looked up here came a green Oldsmoblle on my sxde of the road Yes Ken W1egand was passtng everyth1ng on the road just as he always sa1d he could do He must have really had ll souped up and he had everythlng on II Next I came to a church whtchhad a slgn out tn front I drove on by then backed up I had seen rlght It sa1d that Charles Morgan was the new pastor I was qutte dumbfounded but I guess th1s old world 1S full of surprlses Just around the corner was the H Sc G Market It was owned by J 1m Golden and J 1m Hubbard They were SI111 ehgtble bachelors and you could tell lt by all the young women who came there to trade On a vacant lot was a large slgn It had a p1cture of a man s head on lt Underneath It sa1d BE SURE TO VOTE FOR SWIFT FOR SENATE IF YOU WANT THINGS DONE SWIFTLY I knew they were tallung about the pres1dent of the class of 56 I went back to the Loop to f1nd a bed for the nlght I went to a fancy hotel and found out ll was owned by Mr James Watters I always thought that he would own a grocery store but I guess that I massed my guess agam As soon as I got my rooml turned on the T V The news was on and the annotmcer was Dan Bell He told that Darw1n Morgan was rtmnmg for the Pres1dent of the Farmers Assoczauon He also sa1d that the Mult1 Mllllonaxress M1ss Betty Lou Daugherty was golng South agaln That wasn t too surprxsmg except I d1dn t expect her to st1l1 be a M1ss To close he sa1d that when you want to go somewhere mce to be sure you go out to Rolltngs Stepplng Stone A wonderful place to go for New Year s Eve You may wonder why I wrote tlus down but each year I take my tr1p and I keep a record of all my old frtends that I see I ll see you next year If I m able to make the trxp Yours truly ' I 1 .5 .
