Wwzfoaq On a bright, sunny morning in the fall of l9hO sixteen little children bade their mothers and fathers adieu and started off for their first day at school Out of the sixteen in the original class only four are graduating from Deer Creek Only four of them, Marlys Brasel, Jack Stewart Roger Olson, and Melvin Helmrichs went all twelve nflightsn in good old Deer Creek We took off like a bolt of lightning in a Destination Goal Rocket with Miss Tykeson as our pilot In the second grade we again had Miss Tykeson as our pilot Miss Klyeve took over in the third grade Steering us on through the fourth grade was Miss Melon Caroline Bartels zoomed in in 1993 During the next two years our pilot was Miss Lund Our passengers decreased to a total of ten as George Sterricker, Barbara Wellmen, Tom Lindbloom, Katherine Oldenburg, and Gary Billington left us We picked up Andy Stewart en route Iwo of our busiest years were the seventh and eigntn grades Mr Ojala acted as our Hdrivern we picked up Lou Ann Buchanan, Wallace, Emalou Hallauer, Gerry Thelen, Gene Irons, Ray Haffner, Eckman, Norman Ohrmundt, Robin Witthuhn, Marilyn Anderson, Leona Ilene Cote, Anita Sauck, Ivis Branstner, Fern Halvorson, Phyllis Verna Davis, Clem Davis, and Richard To many of us the freshmen year us into stopping all work we never when Myrna Paul Warwick Davis, Prahl Many of them left in the was a new experience which shocked did recover in the next three years The stewardess added Ruth Stroh Robert Brenner, James South Emaline Erickson, LuVerne Zacharias, an Marie Hamann to our passenger list During the freshmen year we were initiated we were to wear the opposite sexes' clothes The girls were compelled to wear their hair straight while the boys wore pin curls We picked up Ted Anderson in our sophomore year That same year our class was reduced to fifteen We will always remember the Junior Senior Banquet which we spon sored in our junior year There were also many other incidents in our school life well worth remembering On a bright summer morning in the fall of 1951 we filed into the study hall There was a great difference between the first day of school this year and our first day twelve years ago Many of us realized this was our last year in high school, and we resolved to make it our best Piloted by Mr Austinson we were about to start up in our rocket when we realized that Verna Davis was no longer with us That left fourteen seniors speeding on through the twelfth flight After grad uation we shall continue in our rocket, to go always onward and upward until we reach our individual goals 9 I ' 7 D O O Il . 9 same year, some left in our freshmen year.
