214 5 1 CLASS HISTORY Twelve years ago the present Senior class, with bright expectant faces, presented itself to the first grades of various country schools to learn the mysteries of Readin', Ritein' and Rithmatic. We started our High School with an enrollment of twenty-one fresh- men full of enthusiasm and extreme ideas which our principal and sponsor, Mr. Shidler, immediately curbed and directed into the right channels, Two weeks after school started, we were initiated by the Seniors. Later in the year, a contest of buying government bonds, and stamps was held and our class won. As a result of this we were awarded a trip to Enid, All of us went through the packing plant and enjoyed a picnic lunch at Springs Park, where we had a lot of fun boating and then to the Army Air Field to see all kinds of airplanes. After going through the Air Base, we returned home to a hamburger fry at our class parents home, We entered our sophomore year with some new faces, those of Barbara McM rphy and Allen Wilson. During the year we lost several Classmates leaving our enrollment less than the previous year. Our sponsor, Mr. Nesselrode, entertained us with a Christmas party, which we all shall remember as the high light of our Sophomore year. When we came to school as Juniors, we recognized a new face amoung our old classmates. That of Wayne Hughes, We all worked hard in making the Jr, play, 'A Ready Made Familyn, the success that it was, although our sponsors decided us hopeless the night of dress rehearsal. Our sponsors, Mrs. Cooley and Mr. Earsom helped us in giving the Seniors a delightful and successful banquet, The Indian theme was carried out even at the dance where punch was served in a tepee. The music was heavenly and the dresses were lovely, Because of graduation, Lamont High will suffer greatly the loss of six football stars: Gene Fisher, Dick Gilbert, Bill Gilbert, Lyle Tebow, Bob Dorsett, and Eldon Stockton, All were first string players, They will also lose four basketball stars, Lyle Tebow, Gene Fisher, Jeannine Pierce, and Velva Arends. Our class will always be remembered as the class with four girls. In September, as Seniors we intered school with a new dignity be- fitting our classification. Our number was decreased to fourteen. Dur- ing the first semester our sponsors, Miss Moss and Mr. Higgins, gave us a party to which we invited the Jr. Class. We went out to our class parents home Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kugel, and enjoyed dancing, games, and refreshments of apples, do-nuts, mints, and cocoa. This year, our big task is publishing, nThe Red Deviln, with the purpose of raising money for our Sr, Trip, The Seniors presented as their Senior play nHere Comes Charlien, The Seniors left on their Senior Trip from the High School build- ing at 8:30 A.M. Friday, April 22, l9L+9, taking Highway 77 to Oklahoma. City where we enjoyed a nice lunch at Beverleys. We took in the'sights of the Historical Building and State Capital Building. We left Oklahoma City and passed through Chickasha on our way to Medicine Park. We then drove up Mt. Scott and enjoyed the beautiful scenery from this high altitude. We left Mt, Scott and stayed all night at the Craterville Dude Ranch. After enjoying a nice rest at the ranch we motored to Ard- more and from there to Lake Murray. We then went back to Ardmore for the night. The next morning we went to Turner Falls and then through Pauls Valley to Norman and viewed the 0, U, Campus. From their to Oklahoma City to visit the Zoo, after visiting the Zoo we started for home and arrived there at 3,00 A. M, we finished the remaining few weeks of school and enjoyed our last week of absence, We had our commencement exercises on May 26, and received our diplomas, This was the night for which we had all worked very hard and were very glad we had made the grade, We will always be grateful to our parents and teachers for making it possible for us to arrive at this junction of our educational career. ini
