8W... Deephziven got off to a fast start in the basketball season by squeezing out a 30-29 victory over Delano on November 19. High scorer was George Pilkington with 11 points. The conference season opened with a 39-33 victory over favored Wueunia. with Dahlbloum netting 14 and Sehmid 13 for the winners. The next game found Deephaven journeying to Watertown to win 34-25. with Dahlbloom high point man with 15 points. In the next game Deephaven walloped Bloomington 49-30 as Sehmid scored 11 points and Dzihlbloom 12. Next was a hai'd-fought battle with Eden Prairie. The final score was 45-33, with Fillmore getting 15 zmd Duhlbloom 12. The following game was a two-pnint loss to VVayzata 31-29. with Jim Sehmid tossing in 10 points. In-the next game Deephziven trampled Excelsior 40-20 with Daihlbloom and Sehmid getting 15 points apiece. Then came a very close game with Shakopee which Deephuven won 35-32 with a fourth quarter rally. Dahlbloom and Hoeksti'a shared scoring honeys with 12 points each. Then Sehmid netted 21 points as Deephuven defeated Blake 41-22 in a game in Blake's new field house. In the closest game of the season Deephaven tipped a determined Waeoniu five 45-42 in two over- times. Dahlbloom had 14 points and Schmid 12 with Jim sinking the winning basket with just three seconds remaining in the second overtime. A 41-32 defeat of Excelsior followed. with Dahlbloom get- ting 21 points. Dahlbloom set a new conference scoring record of 39 points as Deephaven blasted Bloomington 62-45. Then Deephaven got revenge on Wayzata. ti'ouneing them 46-36 as Schmid and Dahlbloom scored 17 zmd 16 respectively. The Wolves kept up their winning ways by routing Eden Prairie 57-52 as Dahl- bloom scored 21 points. The 45 mile trip to New Prague brought another win to Earl Chl'iSVS boys. 63-51. with Schmid and Dahlbloom getting 22 and 21 respectively. They fOIIOWed by dropping Watertown 48-33 as Dahlbloom scored 18 points. Chaska was the next victim. fallingr by a count of 63-36 as Dahlbloom scored 24 points zmd Hoekstra 14. Deephaven made it 51 straight conference wins as they closed with a 45-36 win over Shakopee. Dahlbloom connected for 16 points. They absorbed their second loss of the season at the hands of a hot-shooting Delano team. The score was 51-34 with Dahlbloom netting 17 points. February 27 Deephaven journeyed to Robbinsdale to meet St. Louis Park in the first round of the District 18 tournament and was upset 54-44. This tragic game marked the end of the basketball season for Deephaven. tBD
