Track . . . Untavorable spring weather conditions hampered track practice. The team went to Mound. Carleton. and at district meets. Deephaven tennis teams have long been recognized as Outstanding in District I8 and the present team is no exception. In the past three years 0t competition Deephaven has won sixteen games, tied one and lost three. Four lettermen, Dick Lee. Jim Schmid, Arvid Dahlbloom and Jerry Farmer. returned to bolster this year's team. One of the features of the season is a ladder tournament in which anyone may compete. The 'B team proved that they could hold their own in basketball with l3 wins and only 3 losses. The boys. as a team and as individuals. improved during the entire season. and this training should prove a great help to Coach Christ in the immediate future. The coach has high expectations ot an outstanding team next year. Many Deephavenites do not realize it, but the school possesses a natural bowl stadium in what is now the athletie field. Although the tield is still not finished. tentative plans include expansion tor an eleven man field with a cinder track around it. This project will enable Deephaven to have their own home games and perhaps night games at that. Also it would enable them to hold dual track meets with neighboring schools and also improve our own teams with practice areas. E453

Joanna and Diana Wirtz, Pat Carney, Shirley Rapley, and Dick Wreisner under the more experienced guidance of .Iane Shanesy, have really done a grand job.
