The clay of homecoming is sure- ly a day of celebration at Deep- haven. with the building. cars, and even some of the kids decorated in the school colors. It seemed strange to have to go to Waconia tor the game. but in a way it was just as much tun. Although the last quarter was heartbreaking. the sen- iors did their best to make Home- coming '47 a success. The seniors were kept very busy throughout the day selling maroon and gold Homecoming buttons to everyone. Preceding the dance a huge bon- tire was lit, lighting up the whole village iwell. almostli. putting everyone into the mood for a cele- bration. The gymnasium was beautitully decorated in a tall mothc com- bined with the tootball theme. The highlight of the evening was the crowning of our beautiful queen Gerry Sumpter. She was attended by Beverly Thies, freshman. Jeanne Peterson. sophomore. Jane Shan- esy. junior. and Zoe Comer, senior. The ceremony was made still more beautiful by the generous presen- tation of flowers by the junior class. The evening was spent dancing to the wonderful music of Bob Mc- Govern and his band. . . .
