I 1 In 1952 about 50 of the present 42 seniors started out to fulfill their future. Miss Belle taught us the fundamentals that year. After being catchers for erasers, we finally won the first game. Linda and Brenda Parrish joined us that year. Mrs. Edith West and Miss Swan were our second grade teachers. We learned the three R's and the first steps of writing. This year we moved to a newer building. Martha Causey joined us then. Our third grade teachers were Mrs. Kennedy and Miss Swann.We enjoyed making puppets and giving puppet plays. Ida Jean Womble and Janet Thomas joined us in that year. In the fourth grade our teachers were Mrs. Kennedy and Miss McNeil. During that year we played hide with our teachers. Miss McCracken and Mrs. Lentz were our fifth grade teachers. Some of us went to Winston-Salem. Jerry Denkins joined us during that year. I Miss Cheek and Mrs. Lentz were our sixth grade teachers. We learned the social graces of manners, we also learned how to stuff our food into milk cartons. Dottie Holder joined us in that year. In the seventh grade our teachers were Mrs. Wicker and Mrs. High. We went to the State Fair on a trip and later on in the year we sold seeds. All through that year we accomplished blisters and zeros. Janet Gregson and Sharon Nutter joined us here. Our eighth grade teachers were Mrs. Wicker and Mrs. Fulton. That year we went to Chapel Hill and Durham. Linda Hedgpeth joined us. Mr. Bare and Mr. . Farmer were our ninth grade teachers. We enjoyed field trips and fun of being in high school. In the tenth grade, Mr. Bare and Mr. Wawon were our teachers. That year we enjoyed giving sock-hops and cutting up cats in Biology. Frances Smith and Vivian Buchanan joined us then. , Mr. Bare and Miss McRae were our sponsors in the eleventh grade. The history class went to Wilmington to see the USS North Carolina. We gave sock-hops, sold magazines and gave a play, -'IEAntics gf Andrew. We also enjoyed planning the Junior-Senior Prom. Finally the moment we've been waiting for arrived, graduation! Mrs. Millikin and Mr. Watson were our senior sponsors. We deeply appreciated their guidance through the year. It is the night of our reunion for the graduating class of 1964. Some of the early arrivals are Ida Jean Womble, Sandra Clifton, Martha Causey, and Mike Johnson. While we are waiting for the others to arrive Martha is introducing us to her latest flame, who is prosperous and nice looking. She is secretary for a firm in Raleigh. Mike Johnson, a famous news correspondent for C. B. S. , strikes up a conversation with Ida Jean Womble, who is talking about horses. She and her husband, Dewey, are training horses for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Sandra Clifton joins them, and tells about her interesting experiences at the Art Advertising Agency in New York. You can tell she likes her work. Here comes Emma Kelly, with her husband Steve Cotten.Emma, head medical secretary at Walter Reed Hospital, also helps Steve with the operation of Cotten's Trucking Company. Emma tells that Pat Johnson, a private secretary to North Carolina's representative from the eighth district, is doing well. Who's this distinguished character coming toward us? Why that's Roger Millikin, who is rolling in the money as top engineer for Daniel's Construction Company, largest in the south. Fletcher Williams just roared in from Charlotte in his 427 Chevrolet. He is tuning cars these days for Holman S Moody racing stables. Sandra says that Janet Thomas, married to a rich tycoon in Chapel Hill, is now a professor of history at U.N. C. We heard that Ruth McNeill is quitting her high-paying job to get married. Clifford Stewart has been promoted to foreman of a big construction company. Doris Womble, who lives in Chapel Hill, is Professor of Psychology at the University of North Carolina. Brenda Perkinson tells us she finally got a job at W. C. She finds several Sanford friends there. Linda and Brenda Parrish are now joint owners of an exclusive beauty salon in Hollywood. Linda Hedgpeth is now director of nursing at Watts Hospital in Durham. She has really climbed in the field of nursing. Paulette Mitchell, who is very busy designing the latest fashions for Vogue magazines, has just arrived. - Ruby LaSalvia, the owner of the Renault Dauphine Company designs little cars for little people. Phyllis Harrington is the proud owner of Federal Spinning Company. Tim Winstead, who hauls moonshine three nights a week in his scatback Ford, has employed Steve Miller as chief mechanic. - Carolyn Harrington, hard at work doing her household chores and tending to her three boys, could not attend the reunion. - Dotty Holder, owner of Dotty's Beauty Shop, has her time divided between her job and her one little boy. Lt. Tommy Wicker is still attending National Guard meetings each Monday night. Larry McBryde is a big stockholder in Wicker Oil Company. Mickey McBryde has arrived to tell us that he is a Master Sergeant in the National Guard. Frances Hall has become the mother of five adorable little Dull's. , Janet Gregson, wearing a beautiful blue dress tells us that she is director of nursing at Hamlet Hospital. Glynn Harrington, a Captain of the United States Navy, came in for the reunion. Ernestine Poindexter is a secretary in the Governor's office in Raleigh. They found she could keep confidential information. Flora Wilder, mother of two little Mason's, has arrived. Judy Smith has her time divided between Koury Company and her husband. Frances Smith is private nurse for the President of the United States. 'Billy Kirby is a great mathematician at State College. Martha Johnson, who is a physical therapist at Rex Hospital, just came in. Jimmy Poindexter has a chain of grocery stores on the East coast. Roger Cox, a member of the Hell Drivers, makes a lot of runs to the coast. Sharon Nutter is now director of a beautician school in Raleigh. Vivian Buchanan is now happily married to Jimmy Thomas and the mother of quintuplets, boys. Jerry Dinkins, owner of Dinkins' Cabinet Company is doing very well. Most of the new Sanford homes display his work. Jack Sineath just came in from his X-ray technician office in Durham. He would be the last one here, but we couldn't start without our president. We have all enjoyed our chance to visit, but since Jack has finally arrived we'll get things under way, if we can hear him. We really should have these get-togethers more often.
