Class History It was fall of 1942, that brought this Senior Class together. The pupils from Gertie, Sunray, and Deep Creek numbered 75. The class was then divided, Miss Margaret Rice taking the A section, and Miss Ruth Lawson taking the B section. Besides having to admit we had lots to learn, we got along just fine. Entering the second year proved quite interesting for us under the supervision of Mrs. Moon and Mrs. Deal. Each section elected class oH'icers and selected the subjects they wished to take. Then we settled down for our new year of school life. During the time, we lost our history teacher, Miss Henry, for whom the wedding bells rang. For a long time, we had no regular teacher, until Mr. Mashburn came along. Minstrel time came and for queen we elected Fuzzy Rice. Posters and boxes were made and distributed. We were determined to make her Queen. VVe did! The most interesting class we had was under Mrs. Moon, Algebra! There were certain things she said I am just not going to have. And so we learned to obey the rules. All in all the wise fools made out pretty good. With the loss of pupils from year to we entered our Junior eyar with thirty-two members. Our home room teacher was Miss Bordner. Class officers were elected as follows: president, Kenneth Berry, vice-president, Virgil Keeg secretary, Merele Culpepperg treasurer, Fred Spencer. After getting accustomed to being Juniors, we decided to have a play. Mama's Baby Boy, with Larry Widner taking the leading role. With our sponsor's help and pratice the play was a great success. The time soon came for our Prom. After many suggestions, the hall was decorated as a roof garden. We hope the Seniors enjoyed the affair as much as we enjoyed giving it. Before the year was over there was a touch of seriousness learned from taking responsibility. With thirty pupils we started our Senior year. During the year we gained four new pupils, Kenneth Walski, Alice McCoy, Tommy Watkins, and Carol Vickers, making a total of thirty-four pupils. Class officers were: president, Kenneth Berryg vice-president, Larry Widnerg treasurer, Jennie Kowalewskig secretary, Kenneth Walskig chaplain, Mary Ellen Jennings, sponsor, Miss Mar- garet Ramsey. In addition to the regular business of Seniors we had our work on the annual. As we bid farewell, we wish our classmates a successful, happy life. PAUL STEWART CClass of '46J.
