It was the year 1975. In the town of Sleepy Hollow we find that it is the night for the inmates of Siders's mental institute to make their annual break for freedom. The four inmates who make their break this fateful night are Sherry Marquis, Jerry Cole, Jerry Sarver, and Vera Awker. The reason for their captivity are: Sherry Marquis insists that she is a jet pilotin the U.S, A.F., Jerry Cole has a battered guitar and spends hours singing and telling people that he is Elvis Presley, Jerry Sarver had a nervous breakdown after 15 years of married life and still wears an apron and carries a dish towel, and Vera Awker insists she is a majorette in her one-man band and still wears her twirling suit from Deedsville High School. They make an odd looking foursome walking down the back streets of Sleepy Hollow, Jerry with his guitar, Sherry with her pilot suit, Jerry S, with his apron and dish towel and Vera with her twirling suit. Marvin Siders, head psychiatrist of the Siders Institute for the Mentally Ill, sends out the alarm to Town Marshall, Peanut Hoover, who is engrossed in a poker game with his Deputy, Dale Fouts. Meanwhile, Jo Ella Balsbaugh, a nurse at the Institute, lost her head in the excitement, leaped on a horse and ran up the street calling, To arms! The British are coming! Marvin smiles in pleasure for he gets S150 a month for each inmate. Meanwhile, back at the bank, Timid Tom Leedy and his gang including Wild Bill Knauff and Jim fwhiskersj Hazelrigg enters. Dave Moulton, president of the bank, slumps in a dead faint and hits his head on the floor, making a hollow sound. Patty Fitzpatrick, head bookkeeper, keeps a cool head and grabs the fire extinguisher. Timid Tom's gang rush out of the bank just in time to rundown Mayor Joe Sarver. The mayor lies on the sidewalk, grumbling about touchdowns, tackles, etc., seemingly believing he is in the midst of a college football game. He is the next inmate in Marvin's institute. Dave Moulton comes to, shakes his head dizzily, and states that in his next bout with Jack Dempsey, he will K,O. him in the first round. He is the next in- mate. Patty Fitzpatrick, still holding the fire extinguisher insists that she is a spaceman and the fire extinguisher is her ray gun. Mary Donna Hunt and Janie Patch, waiuesses in Jane I-Ieckathorne's cafe, both go crazy with fright as Timid Tom's gang walk in the door. The whole gang now believes that they are pirates. Marvin enters withstraight jackets and takes the five new prospects to his delivery wagon. Janet Eilers and Glenda Dickerhoff, who have been happily married for some time, come to the institution to visit all their old friends. Unfortunately they never return. The class of '58 are all happily reunited and all feel about the same as they did in '58 - penned up and crazy!
