Boy, that yearbook class sure gets the breaks, huh? Well, maybe it seems to others as though Student Publications is all fun and games, but the above only occurs one day out of the year. The rest of the time, we have a big job, putting out a yearbook and a newspaper, doing layout, typing copy, and trying to keep people from covering their faces when we want to take a picture! But if you enjoy hard work, come and join us next year. 17

OUR FRIEND FROM NORWAY NADJA BRUSETH Nadja Bruseth is our exchange student from Norway. Nadja has one brother who is eight years older than her, and no sisters. Her father is an over-engineer and her mother is a music teacher. Nadja's fa- vorite pass time is traveling. She is already formulating plans to return to the United States in a few years and travel throughout most of the country enjoying the sights and the people with whom she comes in contact. She also enjoys photography, writes to pen pals all over the world, all kinds of sports and handicrafts of all types. Nadja describes Norway's system of education as being a little different from ours. In Norway, chil- dren start school when they are six or seven years old and they attend school for nine years. After com- pleting the nine required years of education they must either attend a career school or go to college. In order to attend the University, one must have college attendance in his background. Nadja is on the Deckerville Junior Varsity Volleyball team and eagerly participates in all of the team's contests. She is also an active member of V.I.C.A. Vocational, Industrial, Clubs of America. Nadja tells us that Norway and Michigan are similar in many respects. Specifically, she says that Nor- way and Michigan both have long, cold winters and hot summers. One stark contrast however, is that Norway has mountains which Michigan lacks. The peat moss pile outside of Sandusky apparently doesn't count. Because it is mind expanding to learn about the culture and life styles of other countries, we asked Nadja what the most popular food is in her country. Her response confirms are suspicions, people are people are people are people. The most popular food in her country is, you guessed it, pizza!! When Nadja returns to Norway she will go to college and attend until she graduates. After gradu- ation she would like to obtain a job as an airline stewardess for an international airline so that she will be able to continue to travel around the world meeting interesting people. If you would like to communicate with Nadja when she returns to her country, you can write or call her using the address or phone number listed below.
