Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1973 volume:

School. Some of us like it, some of us hate it, some of us don't care, but all of us experience it. What- ever our attitude toward school may be, it is still an important part of our lives. 3 Each of us brings a unique personal- ity through those doors in Septem- ber. We experience other students with their successes and failures, and when we walk out in June, per- haps we take a little of them with us. 4 5 6 7 We come, we learn, we grow. We make special friends, accomplish special goals, and leave with special memories. Step by step we strive to become alto- gether people; individuals ready for any- thing in a ready-for-anything world. 8 9 10 Qttidwb Council The Student Council sponsored many assemblies through- out the year to educate and entertain. Bob Abbott 134 Capt. Robert Abbott, a member of the class of 1960, was a pris- oner of war in Viet Nam for more than five years. As a sign of their happiness at Capt. Abbott's safe return, the people of Deckerville organized the biggest and most festive parade this town has ever seen. The parade had over 50 entries and more than 10, 000 spec- tators from all over Michigan. TOP LEFT: Capt. Abbott is pic- tured with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Abbott of Deckerville. LOWER LEFT: The parade was led by the Deckerville High School Marching Band. TOP RIGHT: Many servicemen in the parade were also alumni of Deckerville High. BELOW iUGHT: Former Decker- ville coach Jim Waldo spoke, along with Governor William Mil- liken and other dignitaries, at the program following the parade. 135 Although it seems hard to believe, the school year is over, and for some of us, there will not be an- other. Most of us are happy and excited about putting another year of education behind us. Some of us look forward to the future with apprehension; some with anticipation; all of us with hope. Every school year has its own character, and the 1972-73 school year has been particularly unique for many reasons. We hope that this year has been a happy, memorable one for all the Deckerville students, and that this book will help preserve your best memories of the '72-’73 school year. lU '75 BaqkQtcviQtag Editor: Jean Mausolf Jr. Editor: Maureen Reisner Business Manager: Ellen Davis 136 mm — « -V .I% • • “ tT v WW -' - : — • ‘ ' .
