Senior Class History In a very short time we of the Senior Class will graduate and then each of us will go our sep- arate way. We have created many memories in all our years here at D.C.S. Let's review some of them in order. Most of us first came to D.C.S. in the second grade when the rural schools consolidated. We had to adjust to riding a school bus and being in a classroom with people of only one grade. Each year we had a Christmas and Valentine party, made Mothers' Day gifts, and gave a Christmas pro- gram. The seventh grade found us making another big adjustment. We soon found it fun to go to a different classroom and teacher each period. We elected class officers for the first time, and they were: Roger Davidson-President, Darlene Tait-Vice President, Kathy Lawler-Secretary, Becky David- son-Treasurer, Sue Spencer and Dick Harter-Student Council. Our new students were Linda Motney, Barbara Rich, Diane Root, Elaine Wright, Fred Yost, and Barbara Cowley. Those who failed to join us were Eddie Dorman and Nick Willing. Two class parties were a new experience for us, and we ended the school year on a pleosant note with a trip to the zoo. Yvonne Leveque, David Groulx, and Al Tomichek joined us in the eighth grade while Fred Yost, Marilyn Milton, and Hal Blanchard were missed. Our class officers were President-Darlene Tait, Vice President-Roger Davidson, Secretary-Janis Leckrone, Treasurer-Sue Spencer, and Student Coun- cil-Becky Davidson and Jim Bowerman. We again had a zoo trip at the end of the year. In September 1958, we became the Freshmen Class, and the Sophomores gave us beanies to wear on our Freshmen Day. Several new classmates were added to our rolls including John Easier, Chuck Cole, Jim Foote, Larry Greene, John Johnson, Shelly McCormick, Pat Franzel, Janice Mack, Judy Peruski, Nina Pardy, Dwane Phillips, Leslie Rich, Mike Thompson, Dewey Watson, and Bill Wood- ward. Those students dropped were Quinn Jones, Yvonne Deveque, David Groulx, Al Tomichek, and Bernard Lossing. John Johnson was elected President, Dick Harter-Vice President, Mary Green- an-Secretary, Judy Peruski-Treasurer, Joy Thayer and Bob Hall-Student Council. We began our Sophomore Year by electing Class Officers. Those we chose were Janis Leck- rone-President, Caren Srock-Vice President, Darlene Tait-Secretary, Judy Peruski-Treasurer, Sue Spencer and Chuck Cole-Student Council. Our class lost Gary Schmidt, Charles Graff, Larry Greene, Bob Hall, Barbara Rich, and Dwane Phillips and gained Don Lossing and Lois Kritzman. Our Junior Year was filled with activities. This was the year we sold sweatshirts and Christmas cards. THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED was the class play we produced. We had a great time at our class party with a beatnik theme. We honored the Seniors at the Junior Senior Banquet and we transformed the gym into a place in which everyone could enjoy our theme Some Enchanted Evening . Our class rings were chosen, ordered, and delivered. Gary Schmidt again joined us, while Rodney O'Mara, Jack VanNatter, Dolores Dumity, Mary Dorman, Kathy Lawler and Dick Welsh failed to do so. Our class officers were Dick Harter-President, John Jonnson-Vice President, Caren Srock- Secretary, Judy Peruski-Treasurer, Sue Spencer and Bob Buhl-Student Council. Now we find ourselves in our Senior Year--our last one at D.C.S., but the best one. It is not completed yet, but already we have many things to remember. Bob Bullock is our only new class- mate and Lois Kritzman, Carolyn Mclntire, Normalene Doerr, Becky Davidson, Bill Woodward, and Pat Howard are not with us any more. We entrusted the Leadership of our class this year to Dick Harter-President, John Johnson-Vice President, Caren Srock-Secretary, Judy Peruski-Treasurer, Sue Spencer, Janis Leckrone, and Roger Davidson-Student Council. Our Senior Play LIFE WITH FATHER was quite a success. We sold magazine subscriptions for our Senior Trip for which we have been planning. Graduation invitations have been selected. Many of us are planning for and looking ahead to college, a job, or other goals but we still have the Banquet and Prom, Senior Trip and most of all, our graduation exercises to look forward to yet this year. Our class motto is The higher we rise, the broader the view , and certainly as each day we have taken another step up the mountain of Knowledge, our view of Life has become broader and more interesting. As we continue up this mountain, though it be very rugged in places, our view becomes even more rewarding.
