LEFT SCHOOL TO JOIN ARMED FORCES Class History The class of '61 first launched its boat by electing its crew, Don Darlington, President; Ruth DeLong, Vice-President; Betty Roberts, Secre- tary; and Barbara Tanton, Treasurer. Joyce Doerr and Jean Pardy were our Student Council representatives. With the help of Mr. Fritch, Mr. Cook, and Mrs. O'Connell, our class began to take its place in D. C. S. waters. We had smooth sailing during our Sophomore year. Barbara Tanton served as President; Cecil Hamill was Vice-President; Joyce Doerr kept the records as Secretary; and Dawn Root held the job of Treasurer. To represent us on Student Council were Karen Davis and Larry Hulslander. Three new members came on board: Vicki Jones, Mary Jane Rumble, and Tom Rumble. Robert Henry, Rosalyn Parker, Dwain Phillips, Janet Rawl- ings, and Larry Walters failed to rejoin us. Mr. Fritch and Miss Riggs guided us through these quiet waters. Then we were in our Junior year and realized we had only two more years to sail on D. C. S. waters. Larry Barnes, Mary Jane Rumble, and Tom Rumble didn't return this year. Gale Elenbaum, Larry Green; Laura Lake, and Jack Smith joined us. Don Darlington took the wheel as Presi- dent; Marilyn Brabant stood by as Vice-President; Ruth DeLong kept the log as Secretary; and Janet Loss was Treasurer. Kay Grice and Lowell Fritch took our chairs on Student Council. We received our class rings this year. We also presented the Junior Play and sponsored the Junior- Senior banquet and prom, Evening in the Islands. At last, our Senior year came rolling in. We were finally Seniors and realized our ship would soon be stopping. To steer us through these final waters, Gerald Walker became President; Art Hooper, Vice-President; Ruth DeLong, Secretary; and Dawn Root, Treasurer. Carol Fleck and Rick Barker represented our views on board the Student Council. Mr. Fritch, Mr. Glover, and Mr. Leckrone rendered a guiding hand throughout the year. We lost Linda Barr, Yvonne Clink, Helen Dutcher, Bonnie Franzel, Valeta Geeck, Larry Green, Larry Hulslander, Laura Lake, Larry Me Master, and Ken Pohl from our rolls. The first big wave of the year was our Senior pictures. Next came our Senior play and the banquet and prom given in our honor. As the year is coming to a close we are busily planning our trip to New York City. We now realize that we will soon be graduated and saying Good-bye to D. C. S., the faculty, and all the students for the last time.
