Class History Graduation , a goal that lies ahead of every student. As eager freshmen we began to put together the ladder by which we climb, on a warm fall day in September 1953. Our first step was the election of class officers. Ronald Brabant led the class with the assistance of Dick Grice. Joyce Parrott kept the notes and Bob Kirkpatrick held our money. Members who spoke on our behalf at student council meetings were Rose Marie Lamont and Dave Felk. Mr. Regentine and Mr. Russell were our class sponsors. The highlights of this year were initiation and two class parties. One out door party and one held in the gym. After what seemed to be a short summer we began to build again as sophmores. Those who did not return this year were Threasea Cunningham and Larry Harrison. Gayle Root came in at the beginning of the second semester. To start the year we elected class officers as follows: President, Dick Grice; Vice President, John Merriman; Secretary, Betty Bungart; Treasurer, Sally Tobi; Student Council members, Joyce Parrott and Nelson Stolicker. Our class sponsors were Mr. Regentine and Mr. Russell. We received our rings this year as a symbol of our class, and proclaimed to all we were getting nearer to our goal. Of course we had our two class parties which were both held in the gym. Juniors at last, and how much work was ahead of each one of our 47. To lead and help us through this year we elected: President, George Pattullo; Vice President, Ronald Brabant; Secretary, Lois Decker; Treasurer, Jean Baughman; Student Council members, Janet Fritch and John Merriman. Mr. Cook, Mrs. Fleck and Mr. Russell were our class sponsors. Those who left this year were Barry Czap, Frank Mosure, Dick Noble, ana Eunice Rich. Our newcomers were Donna Jones and Edith Samuelson. In The Perfect Idiot our play, we displayed our talent with grease and paint. The last step which finishes our Junior year was the Junior-Senior Prom filled with work and fun. We are Seniors. With this thought in mind we began our last year in school. Time was running short and still more steps were needed before we reached our goal. Those who did not return this year were: Harvey Scott, John Tomicheck, Frank Mosure, Frank Wagaster, and Gene Wagaster. Our officers for the year were: President, Ronald Brabant; Vice President, David Felk; Secretary, Lois Decker; Treasurer, Jean Baughman; Student Council members, Joyce Parrott and Bob Kirkpatrick. Mrs. Fleck, Mr. Russell and Mr. Leckrone our advisors helped us over the bumps of our last steps. Our three plays The Farmers Daughter , No Greater Love , and A Wedding marked a great part in this year. The Prom our last big dance was a gay occasion. At last Graduation our goal had been reached. It was mixed with smiles and tears as we said good-by to Deckerville High realizing The past is forever gone; But the future is still our own.
