At Mr. Spence's request, he has employed a not-too-able car- penter named Rufus, and a cleaning woman. Miss Mullins, to get the house ready for inspection. Mr. Melvin took his wife and two daughters along for background, to pre- tend that they were spending a delightful vacation there. Miss Mullins assumes control and threatens to leave unless they all pitch in and help, including the deceitful Mr. Spence. Barry, Barbara's ex-boyfriend, appears more or less disguised as a famous French artist, to make a last appeal to Barbara. Jack, a personably young lifeguard, the stupid Oliver, and Barry acquire black eyes in settling the problem. A happy outcome, however, follows the confusion of broken furniture, and windows that fall out.
