K enioy v .-lass .J tlstor ' On September 4, 68 of us entered the doors of De- catur, Jr.-Sr. High School to begin our final year of education. The first activity of the senior class was to elect officers and a sponsor. President— James Baumgart- ner. Vice-president— Ken Eliasson, Secretary— Jo Ann Jones, Treasurer— Judv Carpenter, Sponsor, Miss Vera. On November 19, the seniors sponsored the Stu- dent Day Sale. With the help of the whole student body, the Student Day Sale was very successful. In January the seniors visited the Court House to witness a naturalization ceremony as part of our citizensh ip training. On May 16, the Junior-Senior Prom was held. The Juniors did a wonderful job of planning and dec- orating around the theme Saynoara. The seniors will remember the Prom as one of the outstanding events of their high school career. Baccalaureate services were held on May 18, with Reverend C. E. Lykins of the Church of the Nazarene giving the message. The Senior Banquet was held on May 20. Finally on May 22, Commencement arrived. This was the night which all of us had been looking for with great anticipation. Dr. George E. Davis of Pur- due University gave a wonderful speech and then Dr. Burk presented the seniors with their diplomas. The Commencement dance followed after the grad- uation. After the dance entertainment was provided throughout the night by various organizations. Each senior has many wonderful memories of his whole high school career at D.H.S. We shall always remember D.H.S. and we shall consider ourselves fortunate to be graduates of D.H.S. 22
