Dear Diary, today 49 of us enter- ed the ever familiar doors of the Decatur High School to begin our final year of high school education. We organized our schedules and planned for the Friday night football dance. Oct. 2. Dear Diary, we had our Hrst class meeting this afternoon. We elected officers and a class psonsor. Sponsor-Miss Vera President-Marilyn Kirchenbauer Vice-president-Bob Baker Secretary-Carolyn McDougal Treasurer-Don Aurand Nov. 20. Dear Diary, we've set a record! During this Whole month We've worked hard on the Student Day Sale, and today We had a report that 129 merchants are participating. This is the highest ever. Dec. 24. Dear Diary, today was the last day of school preceding our Christmas vaca- tion. We sang carols and made arrangements for transportation to Alexandria for the holi- day tourney. Jan. 10. Dear Diary, our class is planning some visits to the Courthouse in order to be- come more familiar with the county offices. We were invited to the Courthouse today to see a naturalization ceremony. Feb. 6. Dear Diary, today our class voted on invitations. We chose a very neat one with an etching of the school on it. March 19. Dear Diary, tonight the senior girls won the girls basketball tourney. After the game We had revue practice. April 2. Dear Diary. we gave the final performance of our spring revue last night. We had reports that Steppin' Out was the best revue ever given. May 14. Dear Diary, tonight we attended The Prom. We were all greatly surprised by the clever decorations, Tonight is a night We shall never forget. May 23. Dear Diary, tonight we were honored at Baccalaureate Services. May 27. Dear Diary, this is it! Tonight we are going to graduate from Decatur High School. We are all very proud to say that we were members of the D.H.S. student body. M. K. 17

unior Cfarid Sept. 8. Dear Diary, can you believe it '?-We're actually juniors! Now we're in! Things are almost the same at school this year. We have a few new teachers. Nov. 1. Dear Diary, we elected officers today. I'm sure they'll do a fine job. Our president de- cided at the end of the first semester that he would try his luck at something else, so our capable vice- president took over his duties. Nov. 20. Dear Diary, we're very well repre- sented on the football and basketball teams. We haven't been winning many games, but you wait, dear Diary, we'1l go! Oh! I almost forgot to tell you -we're going to sponsor the first dance of the basketball season. Dec. 24. Dear Diary, today, while Miss Hau- bold played the organ, we all sang Christmas carols. You know, dear Diary, I think that is one of the nicest traditions we have here at D.H.S. After we finished singing, Mr. Andrews wished us all a Merry Christmas and we were off! Feb. 2. Dear Diary, you know, the highlight of the second semester is the Prom. We have some real good ideas. I'm sure that with all the kids helping, plus Miss Weidler and Miss Kauff- man, we'll have the best Prom ever! Feb. 11. Dear Diary, another big event is the spring revue. This year the name of it is Steppin' Out. We're working very hard at it. I wish you could see it, dear Diary, I'm sure you'd like it. And so, dear Diary, until next year-goodby. S.
