The drum corps was organized again with six- teen members. They played first for the Blind Tourney on New Year ' s Day, and again for the Sectional Tournam-ent. The band, as well as everyone else, was very proud of them. Again this year, Selly gave a chicken dinner for the members of the band on November 7. The dinner and dance that followed were enjoyed by everyone present. Some of the band ' s activities for this year in- cluded playing for the Blind Tourney, the Sectional Tournament, the basketball game at Bluffton, and all of the home football and basketball games. Even though the war is over, we are still un- able to get those long awaited treasures, our uni- forms. We are still trying very hard anyway. The band will lose quite a few very good mem- bers by graduation this year. They are Marelyn Schultz, Ann Maddox, Barbara Roop, Lois Chron- ister, Barbara Bracey, Geraldine Andrews, Jerry Ketchum, Karl Kolter, Phil Thomas, and Richard Saylors. These people have done a fine job and we shall miss them next year. Many seventh graders were started on the band road this year by Mr. Sellemeyer, so next year ' s band should be equally good or better than the one this year.

Officers were elected for both the Combined and the High School Bands. The officers elected for the Combined Band were Medford Smith, president; Barbara Anspaugh, vice president; and Kristine Striker, sec- retary-treasurer. The Howling Hosts In the year of 1923 there was an organization started known as the Howling Hosts made up of D. H. S. boys for the purpose of promoting athletic enthusiasm. This organization has been carried on by the D. H. S. boys until the present time. To become a full fledged member of the Howling Hosts, each boy must purchase a season ticket for either the football games or the basketball home games.
