AN EXCITING CLIMAX .... Seniors at last! We have spent five wonderful and happy years together that will never he forgotten as long as we live. We are proud of the knowledge we have acquiredg of the teachers who have given so unselfishly of their time, patience, and talentsg of the friends we have made, of the fun we have had, and of the cultural and academic goals we have reached. Our senior year was filled with numerous activities. Summer fashions were modeled hy members of the class in their Spring fashion show. Everyone enjoyed the humorous antics of the seniors on Kid Day. A variety show, presented by the Class of '60, displayed many varied talents. Five wonderful years at Decatur were summed up at the Senior Banquet hy a comical history of the class. Wie will he sad to leave Decatur High and all the happy memories it has given us. We will strive to carry the ideals of our Alma Mater into the many paths of life that each of us will travel. We welcome you to our enchanted isle. 22 KEN ABBOTI' ,IINI ADAIR Baseball BTeam 2 Varslty 4 Ser Sergeant Club 3 Pep Clu 2 geants Club 2 Pep Club 2 he s Club 3 Red C oes Xlt 2 BUNNY ANDREWS Srnbbler HR Rep 1 2 BTem Basketball 2 'Nlgr 3 Varsity Nlgr Pep Club 2 4 DClub 4 r Club 1 Dramatlcs Club 3 Health Councnl 2 my Y'-V cunts- Club 4 Siam h llub llow m Club 3 MARY ANDERSON Art Club 2 3 Health Council l Pr p Club 2 Welcommg Committee 2 Spanlsh Club 3 Office Worker 3 Swlmmmg Teaml 2 3 Capt 2 l 1 Student Council Alt 1 2 OLIVIA BAKER Transferred from Druid Hills Hlgh School 3 Jr Cnltan 3 4 Art Club 3 4 Tour1tClub4 FHA 4 Re Cross Councll 4 GUY ADAMS Sergeants Club 3 Olllcers Club 4 Pep Club 2 Red Cross Counc1l l RICHARD ANDERSON Ba eball B Team l NHTSIIY 2 Golf Team 3 4 Beta Club 3 4 Sclence Club 3 Dilub 2 3 4 Rlfle Team 2 Pep Club 2 BARBARA BARNES Red Cross Rep 1 2 Alt 3 Lnbrary Club 2 Beta Club 3 4 Spanish Club 3 4 ,lr Clvltan 3 4 Student Council Alt 3 SCflbblBf HR Rep 4 Tourlst Club l 2 3 Health Councxl 1 Office Worker 3 4 L1 brary Ast 2 Pep Club 2 Trl H1Y1 S.. 23 GAIL ADERHOLD Transferred from Cedartown Hrgh School 2 Sparush Club 2 INDE C-XTLR Ad Staff 2 Honor Sales man 2 INJDECATUR HR Rep 2 Peo Club 2 Beta Club 3 4 F LA 34 FTA4- Llbrry Club 3 4 Sec 4 Llbrary Rest 3 4 Q-al BETTY BARRETT Health Councll Alt 1 2 3 Latm Club 2 Youth for Christ 2 Library Club 2 Pep Club 2 French Club 4 Beta Clu FN-X 4 OfliceWorker4 NHS 4 Z E . - L . 1 , 9 , ' ' 9 . A six-page issue, including seven regular columns, was published monthly. Many features, pictures, and news stories helped to brighten the format. The Scribbler staff presented an extra two-page Homecoming edition for the first time. Steve Perry shared editorial responsibility with Linda Landers, who planned the provacative front page pictures and news stories, Roger Park. the talented feature editor and columnistg and Steve Hunter and John Vining, sports editors, who made the sports page lively. The staff attended the ASPA in September, and climaxed the year with a visit to the University of Georgia to attend CSPA where Roger Park won an award for best feature article in state competition. There, many wonderful things began to happen to fascinate and intrigue the child . . . she saw Moonbeams, Elves, Toad- frogs, Butterflies and Fireflies dance before her very eyes. And well-known characters from story books came to entertain her . . . Lil Red Riding Hood, Rebecca from Sunnybrook Farm and Huckleberry Finn. The child was told by the fairy that most people looked for the end of the rainbow but she would not only find it but that she would find happiness as well. May Night began with a snappy drill by the girls drill team, which exhibited the excitement of precision. Next, the May Court was pre- sented to the audience. The girls were resplend- ent in their most colorful dresses, and the boys were handsome in their summer tuxedos. The dialogue was written by members of the Writers Club and the attractive costumes were supervised by the Art Department. The entire program was directed by Mrs. jane Hogan, girls physical education teacher. Franl: T. Parker, R, Abernathy. Middle: B. McHenry, S. Vinson, I. Cobb, D. Reed, J. Hoerner, T. Wagnon, B.
