BCARD OF EDUCATION Seated: Prank Walker, Mrs. Lucy Oplinger, Otto C. Keil, President. Standing: Lester I. Grant, Superintendent of Schools, Norman I. Gore, Assistant Superintendent of Schools. The Board of Education has the responsi- bility for providing the best public education possible for all the children of the district. Parents are interested in their children. All citizens have a responsibility for the education of the children of the community. The Board of Education represents all citizens and with its staff attempts to set policies for an efficient and effective operation of the schools. The economic and cultural level of any community is directly related to the level of education maintained. For parents this means a higher standard of living and better oppor- tunities for the children. For the student it means Wider opportunities for the discovery and use of all his talents. For all citizens it means a better community in which to live. The parent, the citizen without children, and the student all have privileges made possible by good schools. Each must accept the re- sponsibilities that go with these privileges. Individual and community growth must be a cooperative endeavor and each should make his contribution. ZW, 44 18 up
