1-czfiislmeefmmimuw rnfgzmc-sliel Tabor, Ackerman, Higman, Austin The Review Story Contest The twenty-sixth annual prize story contest of the Decatur Be- view was niost unusual inasmuch as the first prize was awarded to a sophoinore, Miss Josephine Higniang the second prize to a junior, Miss Ruth Ackerniang the third prize to a senior, J. B. Austin: and the fourth prize to a post-graduate, Miss Sydney Tabor. The prize stories were short, simple, narratives, written in good style. The purpose of this animal contest is to encourage the use of correct English and to give the students a chance to develop their literary talent. Many of the uaines on the honor role were those of underclassinen, a fact which indicates that there will be a keen coin- petition of experienced writers in the next contest. A singular feature of the contest was the fact that a special prize was offered to any prize winner this year who had won a prize in foriner years. This prize was taken by the senior prize-winner. The judges of this yea.r's contest were: Lelah Belle Davis, Mrs. Forrest File, and Rev. D. C. Beatty. On cz rainy days-- Bobbcd hair, bobbed hair evcryzrlzerc, And not cz one in Curl! Page 101

a-Lf3?3IliEtQfAMSTlEl!m'J inicjzzicgzjgl A Tailor-Made Man On January 6. 1922, the Mask and lVig Dramatic Society presented George Cohan's delightful play, A Tailor-Made Man, to a large and appreciative audience. The entire play was delightfully Cohanesque-sparkling with bits of hunior and brilliant conversation. The plot centers around an aspir- ing young fellow, John Paul Bart. Stanley Vaill in this leading role won niuch adniiration from the audience for his excellent impersonation of this dashing young nian who Rushes in where angels fear to tread. J. B. Austin, as Dr. Gustavus Sonntag, a Gernian econoniist, added inuch to the hunior of the complicated situations which arise over the right to adniire Tanya Huber, a part niost admirably portrayed by Miss Margaret Huinphrey. Robert Taylor, as Mr. Huber, the tailor, and Tanya 's father, did credit to hiniself for his excellent interpreta- tion of the Gernian nierchant. Ponieroy, played by Mark Ackernian, and Peter, played by Robert Schaub, drew niany laughs froin the aud- ience. The second act, a. scene in the reception rooni of the Stanlaws, niansion, glittered with attractive stage settings and evening gowns. Donald Hinton, in the part of Lord Jellicot, had a difficult and eccentric part which he carried off in fine shape. Mr. and Mrs. Stanlaw and their daughter, Corinne, the heiress, were well portrayed by Miss Maurine Golden, Carroll Conner, and Miss Helen Krunisieck. All other nienibers of the cast of tl1i1'ty deserve due credit for niak- ing this play the greatest success of any Mask and XVig production. However, the greatest portion of the praise niust go to our inost efficient coach, Miss Eliza. Thonias, to whoni should be credited this, and a great niany of the previous successes of Mask and M'ig.
