In September the Y-Teen held the annual Big and Little Sister Sharps and Flats picnic in the park. Big events of the year were the Silver Tea, sponsored by the Y. W. C. A. for the YhTeen girls and their mothers and the annual Ma, Pa and Me ban- quet for which the thene was Japanese Festival. F3715 The Hi-Y under the leadership of Luther Colyer and President Rusty Addleman had a successful year. The leading activities of the year were the Thanksgiving service, Silver Tea, Christmas carol- ing, chili feed and date hike. Among these are included the family night, the Christmas F. F. A. and F. H. A. box supper, St. Pat's party, baby sitting, food sales, Christmas gifts for the old folks and serving for banquets. Eight representatives from.D. C. H. S. attended the F. H. A. state convention in Topeka. The F. H. A. sponsored copper jewelry making, which is pictured below, for the home economics department. Nia and President larry Guinn enjoyed a successful year. F F ,,, The F. F. A. under the direction of Advisor Lloyd Moody The three Star Farmers were Jerry Macfee, Duane Unger and Lemoin Rush. The hog judging team received second in that division. The shop mechanics team received second and also competed at state. A. Duane Unger received the highest individual score in the F. F. information contest, and he also won the district F. F. A. public speaking contest and with this talk represented the chap- ter at state. The DeKalb award was another honor for Duane. This year the F. F. A. chapter was one of three outstanding chapters in Kansas and will compete in the National Better Chap- ter Contest, the result of which will be announced at the nat- ional F. F. The group, a ter meeting-in the Nitsch and Nitsch showroom, promenaded down Penn Avenue and then to the school. Dinner was served in the well-decorated library. Following a tasty, outer space meal the group moved to the gym, overhunsgwith stars and centeredwith a rocket ship.
