DRAMA AT DECATUR Behind scenes duties include make-up artists busy with last minute touches necessary to make a member of the cast look convincingly like the character he is portraying. Drama at Decatur is at its peak in the spring when the annual senior class play is presented. First comes the excitement of tryouts and finally the cast members are announced. Lines to be learned, sets to be made, props to be supplied, programs to be printed and tickets to be sold all keep seniors busy in the days before the two big nights of performance. Curtain time tenseness comes and goes as the play gets underway. All the many hours of work are climaxed when the words A tremendous performance are heard. Last year's play, The Perfect ldiot , was under the direction of Mrs. Jeannine McGowan and Mrs. Betty Van Campen. Nancy Murphy Nancy Murphy, senior, was selected to serve as a member of Ayres' Fashion Board this year. She was chosen to represent Decatur by the personnel and fashion directors of the store. Nancy attended a breakfast meet- ing the first Saturday of each month. Here fashions and fads were discussed. In her spare time, Nancy modeled in Ayres' Tea Room. FASHION BOARD MEMBERS A position on Block's Fashion Board for senior Betty Tolen required mod- eling, column writing and weekly meetings. Betty represented Decatur along with sixty other girls from the various high schools of Indianapolis. Her meetings were on Wednesday and her column appeared in the CIothesline , Blocks' publication.
