Color At D.C.H.S. A first at Decatur this year was a Band Major, Jack Butler. Jack led the Maiorettes in many spectacular shows during the season. The Majorettes are a twirling corps who participate in all the activities with the Marching Hawks, They also demonstrate precision drill routines at some of the home basketball games. '1 1 - 'T' DECATUR BAND The Decatur Band really is two organiza- tions in one. Both are directed by Mr, Dale Jackson. ln the fall, the band is seen as the Marching Hawks which provides half-time pageantry for all the football games. They also participate in many parades during the year. The Decatur Concert Band performs repre- sentative band literature at two annual concerts. Nancy Murphy Nancy Murphy, senior, was selected to serve as a member of Ayres' Fashion Board this year. She was chosen to represent Decatur by the personnel and fashion directors of the store. Nancy attended a breakfast meet- ing the first Saturday of each month. Here fashions and fads were discussed. In her spare time, Nancy modeled in Ayres' Tea Room. FASHION BOARD MEMBERS A position on Block's Fashion Board for senior Betty Tolen required mod- eling, column writing and weekly meetings. Betty represented Decatur along with sixty other girls from the various high schools of Indianapolis. Her meetings were on Wednesday and her column appeared in the CIothesline , Blocks' publication.
