WE TREASURE SPECIAL To the Decatur student, the annual freshmen initiation symbolizes the Decatur spirit. The day is given to friendly rivalry between the senior and freshmen classes. At the close of the day every freshman knows that he's one of us now. Realizing that all work makes Jack a dull boy, the informal dances at Decatur have be- come a tradition. informally called sock hops, Decatur students leave shoes on the bleachers and spend a few hours dancing to the latest hit tunes in the gymnasium. Each fall the Sunshine Society, a high school girls organization, initiates new members at o candlelight ceremony, lt is the pride of each initiate to be able to wear the yellow seal bear- ing the letters S. S. S.
