I FRESHMAN HISTORY- Introduction My salad days: When I was green in judgment. LEADING ACTORS: Sister M. Barbara, Class Guardiang Louis Wolpert, President: Paul Schmitz, Vice-Presidentg Helen Kohne, Secrctaryg Agnes Reed, Treasurerg Jeanette Rumschlag, Historian. Motto: Be Prepared. Flowcr: Sweet Pea Colors: Blue and White On September 4, 1934, a group of thirty-five bewildered and frightened freshmen entered the Decatur Catholic High School. After battling with books for several months, we conquered Romulus in Latin and Julius Caesar in English. After considerable juggling, the mysteries of al- gebra were solved. We discovered within ourselves unknown pos- sibilities for assuming responsibility. Instead of supervised study in our class room, we enjoyed free reading in a pleasant library. We conducted ourselves to and from church in what was, to our minds at least, a most edifying manner. And, by June 7, when we had learned the location of all classrooms, the meaning of various bells, and had passed unscathed thc formidable initiation, we felt ready to assume new responsibilities as sophomores. SOPHOMORE HISTORY - Rising Action An honest tale speeds best, being pfainly told. LEADING ACTORS: Sister M. Agnes Terese, Class Guardiang Josephine Wolpert, President, Loreto Rose Lose, Vice-President, Charles Cook, Treasurerg Herman Hain, Secretaryg Marjorie Brown, Historian. Motto: Building for eternity. Colors: Old Rose and Ivory Flower: Tea Rose On September 4, 1934, nineteen sophomores faced the perils of higher education. Undaunted by former adventures with adjectives, equations, examinations, and similar monsters, we came back to the fight armed with an even greater en- thusiasm. Real dangers faced us in the tombs of ancient Egypt, the polygons of geometry, and the Arden Forest of As You Like It , but we proved our- selves once more the victors. We, like Jason in his adventures with the Argonauts, were trium- phant. We relaxed from our battle long enough to entertain our fellow students with two playlets. The first Miserly Gold, we presented for the Children of Mary meeting, and the second, Dis- turbance of the Family, for class meeting. June 7, 1935, finds us anxiously awaiting the pleasure of vacation, and planning for bigger con- quests in our Junior year. l BIAIIY A.
